
Commemorating Batik Day, KAI Holds “Fashion Batik on The Train and Station”
October 2 is designated as National Batik Day by the Government in 2009. Every year, Batik Day is commemorated by various institutions and communities as a form of love for one of the nation’s cultural heritages. This year, to enliven the celebration of National Batik Day, KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto held “Fashion Batik on The Train and Station,” a batik fashion show at stations and trains in the Daop 5 Purwokerto area.

This activity aims to promote Indonesian batik art and culture combined with the iconic railway transportation. “Fashion Batik on The Train and Station” also provides an opportunity for train customers and the general public to experience a unique train journey while appreciating the beauty of Indonesian batik.
Not only as visual entertainment, through the Fashion Batik on The Train and Station activity, the public is also educated about the history and importance of batik in Indonesian culture. There are also exhibition booths showcasing the batik-making process and batik products from various regions in Indonesia.
During the event, local fashion designers from Purwokerto such as Ari Nugroho, Dewi Firda, Ira Satja, and Reni Andri, who are part of a community called “Banyumasanku,” showcased their latest batik collections on trains decorated with batik motifs. In addition, several railway stations in the Daop 5 Purwokerto area were also decorated with stunning batik ornaments to create a distinctive atmosphere. Train passengers and station visitors were able to directly witness the captivating batik fashion show while enjoying the unique railway station ambiance.

By holding this event, KAI hopes to increase awareness and appreciation of Indonesian batik, as well as celebrate a cultural heritage that has become an integral part of the nation’s identity. The Fashion Batik on The Train and Station event is also one of KAI’s ways to continuously support and promote Indonesian art and culture across the country.
