Celebrate Independence Day, 67,120 Train Tickets with 17% Discount Available Today
People who want to travel by train on Independence Day can now start looking for special-fare tickets. A total of 67,120 seats on long-distance commercial economy-class trains with a 17% discount are available for booking starting Friday, August 14, 2026. The promotional tickets are valid specifically for departures on August 17, 2026, complementing the special Rp8 fare that will be applied to LRT Jabodebek and several Commuter Line services on Independence Day.
The special fares are part of the spirit of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, with the theme “Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.” With more affordable fares, people have more opportunities to carry out various activities, from returning to their hometowns and meeting their families to traveling and visiting economic activity centers and public spaces in different regions.
Easy access to transportation is an important part of creating more opportunities for people. The 17% discount and Rp8 fare were chosen to bring the spirit of Independence closer to people’s journeys. The special fares also provide an opportunity for more people to enjoy public transportation services on August 17.
People can book long-distance train tickets with a 17% discount starting August 14, 2026, at 00:01 WIB through Access by KAI and the kai.id website. The booking period will remain open until August 17, 2026, at 23:59 WIB, as long as the promotional ticket allocation and fares are still available.
The 17% discount applies to commercial economy-class long-distance trains in Java and Sumatra for departures specifically on August 17, 2026, from 00:01 to 24:00 WIB. The promotional fare cannot be combined with other reductions or discounts. Meanwhile, cancellations and schedule changes can still be made in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions.
The Independence Day special fares also extend to urban train services. On August 17, 2026, people can enjoy an Rp8 fare on LRT Jabodebek, Commuter Line Jabodetabek, Local Train Area I Jakarta, Area II Bandung, Area VI Yogyakarta, and Area VIII Surabaya. This special fare does not apply to the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line.
The program covers both intercity and agglomeration travel, allowing people with different travel needs to enjoy the Independence Day special fares.
