App Upgrade: KAI Launches “Access” in Grand Launch Event
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) held the grand launching of its upgraded application, “Access by KAI,” at The Westin Jakarta on Thursday (10/8). The “Access” app is a revamp and performance improvement of the previous ticket booking application, formerly known as “KAI Access.”
The background for the revamp of KAI Access into Access comes from customer feedback collected through Play Store, App Store, Contact Center CC121, customer satisfaction surveys, and KAI consultants. This application is expected to serve as a modern solution offered by KAI to facilitate train travel through innovative features. To enjoy these features and services, users are required to update the application via the Play Store or App Store.
“The launch of the Access application is part of our effort to make it easier for customers to access digital services that support their needs, while also serving as KAI’s digital innovation to enhance customer experience with more reliable technology. The new interface is more fun and youthful, with enriched features and seamless services aimed at improving user experience,” said KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo.
In addition to improving existing features, KAI has also developed new services to meet user needs, introducing four main features: trip planner, hotel reservation, live tracking, and loyalty points.
Other features have also been enhanced to improve user convenience and adapt to technological developments, including ticket booking for Commuter Line, Airport Rail Link, Jabodebek LRT, single sign-on, Face Recognition Boarding Gate registration, ticket transfers, and other new rail services.
One of the latest features available in the Access app is Trip Planner, which helps customers design travel plans based on budget, time, and travel preferences. Another new feature is Hotel Reservation, designed to support passengers' accommodation needs and enhance the overall customer journey.
With the upgraded Access application, customers ordering food and beverages through the Railfood menu can now pay using KAI Pay, and they can also book train tickets together with meals in a single transaction. Previously, Railfood orders were processed separately from train ticket purchases as add-ons.
In addition, the Access app is positioned as an all-in-one platform beyond transportation services. Users can now access PPOB (online payment services) such as mobile top-ups, data packages, and electricity token purchases.
As of June 2023, the KAI Access app recorded 12,419,711 registered users with 6,101,343 active users (including premium members). Premium members receive benefits such as Railpoints for every long-distance commercial train ticket transaction, which can be redeemed for tickets under applicable terms and conditions.
KAI also noted that from January to June 2023, most ticket bookings were made through the KAI Access application. Total transactions were distributed as follows: KAI Access app 9,179,669 (61.77%), B2B partners 4,027,330 (27.10%), ticket counters 1,259,344 (8.47%), KAI website 373,980 (2.52%), vending machines 14,439 (0.10%), and Contact Center 121 6,234 (0.04%).
“We hope that with the launch of the Access application, more people—especially millennials and Generation Z—will be encouraged to use safe, comfortable, healthy, and punctual train transportation,” Didiek concluded.
