PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) emphasizes that the changes in the Commuter Line (KRL) travel operational pattern that started on Saturday (28/5) aim to improve the safety and service of Jabodetabek Commuter Line journeys.

The operational pattern changes were carried out due to the implementation of the 5th Switch Over (SO5) at Manggarai Station by the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation. To ensure that Commuter Line services run smoothly, KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo went directly to Manggarai Station on Monday (30/5), which marked the 3rd day of the SO5 implementation at Manggarai Station.

“The operational pattern changes must be implemented due to the construction of railway infrastructure aimed at improving safety for Commuter Line users. Another goal is to upgrade services, as the number of Commuter Line users is predicted to keep growing,” said KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo.

Prior to SO5, Commuter Line users had to cross the train tracks when transferring at Manggarai Station, which was highly dangerous. However, currently, users only need to go up and down to their destination platforms using lifts, escalators, and manual stairs. The presence of this new building also makes Commuter Line users more comfortable when changing lines and waiting for train arrivals on wider platforms.

Entering the 3rd day of the Commuter Line operational pattern changes, the situation at Manggarai Station and the flow of Commuter Line users have begun to stabilize. The crowding of Commuter Line users could be quickly dispersed following various anticipatory measures taken by KAI, such as operating Feeder Trains for the Manggarai - Angke/Kampung Bandan round-trip route on track 7 during peak hours and trains bound for Bekasi/Cikarang from Tanah Abang on track 9, deploying additional officers to assist and direct users, improving operational patterns and train stabling, and optimizing train sets.

“We have deployed more officers and set up directional signage to guide users, manage queues, and help explain things to Commuter Line users who are still confused,” Didiek said.

KAI urges all Commuter Line users to adapt to this new operational pattern, for instance, by departing earlier. Users can also utilize alternative routes to reach their destination stations, such as traveling to Kampung Bandan first before heading to Jakarta Kota.

In addition, Commuter Line users can also take advantage of integrated transportation services at several stations already connected with Transjakarta Buses, such as Tebet, Klender, and Duren Kalibata stations, among others.

Furthermore, Commuter Line users must always follow directions from officers, maintain health protocols, and are advised to keep an eye on their respective belongings.

“We have made maximum preparations regarding the management of Commuter Line users at stations and on trains. Evaluations are also conducted routinely alongside implementing anticipatory steps so that Commuter Line services can run increasingly smoother and in an orderly manner,” Didiek concluded.
