Changes in Jabodetabek Commuter Line Service Patterns, Public Urged to Adapt
With the implementation of the 5th Switch Over (SO5) at Manggarai Station by the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) reminds all Commuter Line (KRL) users to pay close attention to the changes in the KRL travel operational patterns starting Saturday, May 28, 2022. The changes occur on the KRL travel routes for the Cikarang/Bekasi line and the Bogor/Depok/Nambo line, as well as the transit patterns for KRL users at Manggarai Station.

KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo stated that this 5th Switch Over aims to optimize KAI Group services at Manggarai Station, encompassing Long-Distance Trains, Jabodetabek Commuter Lines, and Airport Trains. KAI fully backs this SO5 work as part of the Manggarai - Cikarang Double-Double Track (DDT) development, which is a National Strategic Project.
“KAI apologizes to all customers for this service alteration. KAI hopes that KRL users can adjust their journeys starting May 28 and adapt quickly. Users can check travel information and KRL schedules in real-time via the KRL Access application,” Didiek said.
Starting May 28, KRL journeys on the Bogor line will only serve the Bogor/Depok/Nambo - Jakarta Kota round-trip route via Manggarai Station. Meanwhile, the loop line operational pattern will be served by the Cikarang/Bekasi line under 2 schemes: a full racket Cikarang/Bekasi round-trip via Manggarai or Pasar Senen, and a half racket Cikarang/Bekasi – Kampung Bandan/Angke round-trip via Manggarai. As for the Rangkasbitung line, Tangerang line, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Train journeys, and Long-Distance Trains, no changes will occur. Journeys on the Bogor/Depok/Nambo line will be served on the 2nd floor of Manggarai Station on platforms 10-13; the loop line (Cikarang/Bekasi) will be served on the ground floor on platforms 6 and 7; and the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Train journeys will be served on the ground floor on platforms 8 and 9.
“KRL users from Bekasi/Cikarang heading toward Jakarta Kota, who previously took a single direct trip, must now transfer at Manggarai Station. Similarly, KRL users from Bogor/Depok/Nambo heading toward Sudirman, Tanah Abang, and Duri must also transfer at Manggarai Station,” Didiek stated.
With these changes, transfers for KRL users at Manggarai Station will be safer because they no longer need to cross between train tracks. They simply need to move up and down floors using the stairs, escalators, and lifts provided. KRL travel speeds will also increase from 70 km/h to 90 km/h on the Manggarai - Jakarta Kota line, and up to 95 km/h on the Cikarang/Bekasi – Jatinegara line.
KAI fully supports the development of Manggarai Station by the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation to deliver better services to railway customers. Eventually, with this development, train track intersections will be reduced, the safety and security of train journeys and users will be better maintained, and the capacity and number of train trips will increase to serve more people using public transportation.
KAI hopes that KRL users can join hands in maintaining the various facilities at the station, prioritizing lifts and escalators for users in need, and always following directions from officers at the station and inside the trains.
“KAI is committed to continuously providing mass rail transportation that is easily accessible, affordable, and environmentally friendly,” Didiek concluded.
