Manggarai Station continues to strengthen its role in Jakarta's public transportation system. The station currently handles around 162,000 customer movements every day, with approximately 700–750 train trips operating daily. This high level of mobility provides an important foundation for strengthening connectivity and developing the Manggarai area in the future.

The high number of daily movements makes Manggarai more than just a place where passengers transfer between journeys. The area has the potential to become a meeting point for increasingly integrated public transportation services, making transfers between modes easier and more efficient while improving access to areas around the station.

KAI data shows that the number of KRL customers entering through the gates at Manggarai Station reached 5,142,739 in 2023. The number increased to 5,575,711 customers in 2024 and stood at 5,456,309 customers in 2025. From January to June 2026, the number had reached 2,716,932 customers. These figures show the significant level of travel activity centered around Manggarai Station from year to year.

Manggarai's role in Jakarta's mobility network has also expanded with the Airport Commuter Line. Overall, the service carried 1,970,531 customers in 2023, increasing to 2,242,536 customers in 2024 and reaching 2,346,934 customers in 2025. At Manggarai Station alone, 230,314 Airport Commuter Line customers were recorded from January to June 2026.

Connectivity in the area is expected to become even stronger through the development of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B, which will connect Velodrome and Manggarai. According to information from the Jakarta Provincial Government, the route is approximately 6.4 kilometers long and will have five stations, including Manggarai Station. In July 2026, the Jakarta Provincial Government also reviewed the operational readiness of the route as part of preparations for the operation of Phase 1B.

With this development, Manggarai is being positioned as an area connecting the KRL Commuter Line, Airport Commuter Line, TransJakarta, Manggarai Terminal, and Jakarta LRT. This integration is expected to provide more travel options for the public while making transfers between transportation modes easier.

KAI's area development concept also connects intermodal transportation, pedestrian paths, public spaces, and various urban functions as parts of an integrated area. Strengthening connectivity is an important first step before Manggarai's development moves further toward a Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) concept and urban area regeneration.

The easier it is for people to move between transportation modes, the greater the benefits of public transportation for urban mobility. With its strategic position and high travel activity, Manggarai has the potential to become a more connected, accessible area located close to various community activities.
