KAI Collaborates with the Directorate General of Civil Registration to Enhance the Use of Population Data and Identity Documents
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has partnered with the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Ditjen Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia to optimise the use of National Identity Numbers (NIK), population data, and Electronic Identity Cards (e-KTP) in supporting the verification and validation process for KAI customers.
The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement on the Utilisation of National Identity Numbers (NIK), Population Data, and Electronic Identity Cards (e-KTP) within the scope of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero)'s operations.
The agreement was signed by KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo and Director of Population Data and Document Utilisation Facilitation Akhmad Sudirman Tavipiyono at Gambir Station, Jakarta, on Wednesday (2 February).
The agreement aims to accelerate the verification of customer information entered during the ticket booking process by matching it with the population database managed by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This ensures that passenger information is accurate and consistent with official government records before departure.
"The collaboration between KAI and Dukcapil will provide tremendous benefits for the KAI Group in delivering more integrated and seamless services," said KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo.
The verification process can be carried out through Electronic Identity Card readers, the Directorate General of Civil Registration's web portal, and web services that validate customer population data.
This integration is expected to make the verification and validation process faster and more efficient while supporting the respective roles of KAI and the Directorate General of Civil Registration in providing better customer service.
Didiek emphasised that KAI is committed to maintaining the confidentiality and security of all systems, data, networks, and applications used to access population data provided by the Directorate General of Civil Registration.
Through its ongoing digital transformation, KAI continues to support the Government's Single Identity Number initiative by implementing it across various services, including railway transportation.
Previously, KAI also collaborated with the Ministry of Health to integrate its ticketing system with the PeduliLindungi application. As a result, customer vaccination records and COVID-19 test results can be verified automatically during ticket booking and boarding.
"We hope this collaboration will provide the greatest possible benefits and added value to the public through KAI's service innovations," Didiek concluded. (Public Relations KAI)
