Bogor Station Gets Busier as KAI Prepares SF12 Operations to Support Growing Commuter Demand
KAI is one step closer to introducing 12-car Commuter Line (SF12) operations on the Bogor Line as the expansion of Platforms 6, 7, and 8 at Bogor Station enters its final finishing stage. Running alongside operational testing, the project is scheduled for full completion on 15 July 2026.
The upgrade reflects KAI's commitment to providing a more reliable, comfortable, and higher-capacity commuting experience for the growing number of passengers traveling between Bogor and Jakarta.
The investment comes as Bogor Station recorded the highest Commuter Line passenger movement across Greater Jakarta during the first half of 2026, serving 18.45 million passenger movements—including 9.37 million entries and 9.08 million exits—or an average of more than 101,000 passengers every day.
This achievement places Bogor Station ahead of other major commuter hubs such as Tanah Abang, Sudirman, Citayam, and Bekasi, reinforcing its position as one of the region's busiest transportation gateways.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said the consistently high passenger demand has accelerated efforts to expand station capacity.
Bogor Station recorded the highest Commuter Line passenger movement during the first half of 2026. That's why we're accelerating the development of Platforms 6, 7, and 8 to support the upcoming operation of 12-car Commuter Line (SF12) trains and deliver greater service capacity.
Passenger traffic remained consistently above three million every month throughout the semester, highlighting the Bogor Line's role as one of the most important commuter corridors connecting Bogor, Cilebut, Bojonggede, Citayam, Depok, and Jakarta.
The introduction of SF12 will increase passenger capacity while creating a smoother and more comfortable boarding experience at Bogor Station.
Since construction began on 15 April 2026, the project has covered structural improvements, architectural upgrades, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems, railway track works, and overhead catenary installations. New platform canopies have also been added to provide greater comfort for passengers waiting during sunny or rainy weather.
As part of the final commissioning process, KAI completed a locomotive load test on 29 June 2026, followed by an operational trial using Commuter Line trains on 1 July 2026, ensuring the infrastructure is fully prepared before entering commercial service.
Throughout construction, KAI and KAI Commuter have maintained safe and reliable operations while working closely with the Directorate General of Railways to strengthen connectivity between Bogor Station and Bogor Paledang Station, making transfers easier and more convenient for commuters.
Every improvement we make is designed to deliver real benefits for our customers. With greater capacity, enhanced facilities, and stronger connectivity, we're creating a commuting experience that is smoother, safer, and more enjoyable for everyone.
