Bogor Line Remains the Preferred Choice, Serving 78.08 Million Passengers in the First Half of 2026
Commuter mobility across Greater Jakarta continued to grow in the first half of 2026, with Bogor Line recording the highest passenger volume among all Commuter Line routes.
From January to June 2026, the line served 78,077,679 passengers, underscoring its vital role as the primary rail-based transportation option for residents of Bogor, Depok, and surrounding areas traveling to and from Jakarta.
The steady increase in passenger numbers over the past few years further highlights Bogor Line's importance in supporting daily mobility.
The line served 102,054,022 passengers in 2022, rising to 133,040,885 in 2023, 145,920,264 in 2024, and reaching 155,009,997 passengers throughout 2025.
This continued growth reflects how the Commuter Line has become an essential part of everyday life, connecting people to workplaces, educational institutions, business centers, and other key destinations while strengthening regional connectivity across Greater Jakarta.
In response to increasing demand, KAI continues to enhance service capacity to ensure passengers enjoy a safer, more reliable, and comfortable travel experience.
Various infrastructure improvements are being carried out to better accommodate growing commuter traffic, particularly during peak hours.
Among all stations along the route, Bogor Station recorded the highest passenger activity during the first half of 2026, with 18,451,462 passenger movements, consisting of 9,371,057 entries and 9,080,405 exits.
On average, the station handled approximately 101,942 passenger movements per day.
Bogor Station also ranked first among the five busiest Commuter Line stations during the first half of 2026.
It was followed by Tanah Abang Station with 17,291,480 passenger movements, Sudirman Station with 13,078,339, Citayam Station with 11,465,614, and Bekasi Station with 11,425,878 passenger movements.
Passenger movement data has become an important reference for KAI in planning service capacity enhancements along the Bogor Line.
One of the key initiatives is the expansion of Platforms 6, 7, and 8 at Bogor Station, which will support the operation of 12-car Commuter Line trainsets (SF12).
The longer train formations are expected to increase passenger capacity on every trip while providing a more comfortable travel experience.
With the introduction of SF12 operations, passengers are expected to benefit from more spacious coaches, smoother boarding and alighting processes, and improved travel convenience, particularly during rush hours.
The platform expansion project at Bogor Station is currently in its final stage while operational testing is being carried out simultaneously.
Construction began on 15 April 2026 and is scheduled for full completion on 15 July 2026.
The project includes structural and architectural improvements, installation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, railway track works, and upgrades to the overhead catenary system (OCS).
To further enhance passenger comfort, KAI has also installed platform canopies, providing better protection from both rain and direct sunlight while passengers wait for their trains.
As part of the project's completion process, KAI conducted a locomotive load test on 29 June 2026, followed by a Commuter Line operational trial on 1 July 2026.
These testing phases are intended to ensure the infrastructure meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational readiness before entering full service.
Throughout the construction period, KAI has continued working closely with KAI Commuter to maintain smooth and safe passenger services.
Passenger flow management, service information, and station staff assistance have been carefully arranged to minimize disruptions and ensure daily mobility remains seamless.
Beyond increasing capacity at Bogor Station, KAI is also collaborating with the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation to strengthen connectivity between Bogor Station and Bogor Paledang Station.
This initiative is expected to make transfers between the Commuter Line, the Pangrango Train, and other modes of transportation in the Bogor area more convenient.
Through these continuous improvements, KAI remains committed to delivering services that evolve alongside passenger needs.
With millions of journeys made on the Bogor Line every year, expanding capacity, enhancing safety, improving comfort, and strengthening connectivity will continue to be key priorities in supporting sustainable urban mobility.
