Access to healthcare has become even easier for communities living near railway lines. Throughout the first half of 2026, KAI brought its Rail Clinic to three locations: Bumiwaluya Station in Garut, Cipunagara Station in Subang, and Sukamenanti Station in Bandar Lampung.

The initiative is part of KAI's Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, designed to bring essential healthcare services closer to communities.

Through Rail Clinic, residents can receive general health check-ups, consult with medical professionals, obtain medication based on their diagnosis, and participate in health education sessions.

By bringing healthcare services directly to railway stations, KAI continues to extend the benefits of rail transportation beyond mobility, delivering meaningful social impact to communities living around stations and railway corridors.

Each Rail Clinic train is equipped with a wide range of medical facilities, including general examination rooms, dental services, maternal healthcare supported by ultrasound (USG), a basic laboratory, eye examinations, and an onboard pharmacy.

These facilities enable residents to access multiple primary healthcare services in one convenient location.

According to Malangbong District in Figures 2025 published by Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Citeras is located approximately 3 kilometers from the center of Malangbong District and around 35 kilometers from Garut Regency.

The publication also notes that the district has one hospital, one inpatient community health center, one outpatient community health center, and seven pharmacies.

According to KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba, Rail Clinic helps improve access to healthcare for residents who often face challenges such as limited time, transportation costs, or the need for family assistance when visiting healthcare facilities.

By bringing medical services directly to railway stations, communities can receive initial health screenings and consultations more conveniently and closer to home.

At Bumiwaluya Station, Rail Clinic provided a range of primary healthcare services for nearby residents. Elderly visitors received medical attention, mothers and children benefited from maternal and child healthcare services, while students participated in educational activities through the Rail Library.

The Rail Library at Bumiwaluya offers children an engaging reading experience through a diverse collection of books.

It also introduces railway stations as welcoming learning spaces where children can read together, explore new knowledge, and become more familiar with the railway environment.

A similar program was also introduced at Cipunagara Station in Subang. Alongside free healthcare services through Rail Clinic, visitors were able to enjoy the Rail Library, which features comfortable reading areas with sofas, carpeted seating, and a wide selection of books.

To enhance the learning experience, the Rail Library also provides six computers connected to an e-library system, allowing students to access digital books, educational content, and audiovisual learning materials through the internet.

Anne Purba explained that Rail Clinic and Rail Library are more than healthcare and literacy programs.

They also create meaningful spaces where communities can connect, children can develop a love of reading, parents can ensure their families' well-being, and elderly residents can receive the medical attention they need with greater peace of mind.

In Bandar Lampung, Rail Clinic also served residents around Sukamenanti Station, particularly those living in Pidada Village and the surrounding areas.

According to Panjang District in Figures 2025 published by BPS, Pidada is located approximately 3 kilometers from the district center and about 8 kilometers from downtown Bandar Lampung.

The district currently has no hospital, but is served by one inpatient community health center and three pharmacies.

The healthcare services provided at Sukamenanti include general medical examinations, maternal healthcare, dental and eye care, maternal and child health services, basic laboratory tests, medication based on medical assessments, and public health education.

Anne added that Rail Clinic is not intended to replace existing healthcare facilities. Instead, it complements local health services by expanding access to primary healthcare, making it easier for residents to receive early medical check-ups, consultations, and preventive health education.

Beyond providing transportation, KAI continues to strengthen its commitment to creating positive social impact through programs that directly benefit local communities.

Through Rail Clinic and Rail Library, the company promotes better healthcare, literacy, education, and stronger community engagement around railway stations.

By bringing healthcare professionals, medical services, and literacy programs closer to communities, KAI hopes Rail Clinic and Rail Library will continue to deliver meaningful benefits while fostering closer relationships with residents living near Indonesia's railway network.
