PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) paid a visit to the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) in order to strengthen the protection of KAI assets with full support from the government on Friday (2/9).

The KAI visit was represented by President Director Didiek Hartantyo and welcomed directly by the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN Hadi Tjahjanto.

KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo and Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Hadi Tjahjanto during a meeting at the Ministry of ATR/BPN Office, Jakarta on Friday (2/9).

Didiek Hartantyo said that KAI highly expects support from the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN in resolving various asset problems within KAI's territories.

He continued that there are a number of asset problems in KAI. One of them is the occupation of assets by unauthorized parties for a long period of time who even desire to claim ownership over them.

To secure these assets, KAI continues to carry out asset control assisted by local authorities and the police so that the process runs smoothly. Until August 2022, KAI has carried out asset control in the form of 527,952 m2 of land and 37,147 m2 of buildings within its working areas, such as in DKI Jakarta, West Sumatra, and Central Java. The buildings that have been controlled include kiosks, company houses, official buildings, and illegal structures. Through this control action, KAI has saved assets worth IDR 1.02 trillion.

In addition, KAI also requested the Ministry of ATR/BPN to continue providing support for KAI's asset certification program, which has been running well so far. Until August 2022, KAI's land area that has been certified is 144 million m2 or 53% of KAI's total land area of 270 million m2. In 2022, asset certification is targeted to reach 3.9 million m2, and in 2023 it is targeted at 3.6 million m2.

In addition to asset control and certification, KAI also continues to cooperate with the National Archives of the Netherlands to obtain original documents regarding KAI's assets. This document is vital to prove that the asset has belonged to KAI since the past.

With the collaboration of KAI, the Ministry of ATR/BPN, and various parties, it will further strengthen KAI if disputes occur with parties claiming KAI assets, for example, the Alliance of State House Occupants (APRN), the Alliance of State Land House Occupants (APRTN), the State House Occupants Forum (FPRN), and other alliances, forums, or associations.

“With the certification and safeguarding of all KAI assets, the government's mandate to us to secure state assets can truly be well-organized,” said Didiek.
Minister of ATR/Head of BPN Hadi Tjahjanto said that during the meeting, his party wanted to listen directly to what the issues are in KAI. According to him, there are many problems around the railway lines that must be brought under control.

“I will try to resolve KAI's problems as a form of government presence in helping with asset issues existing in society,” said Hadi Tjahjanto.

Hadi appreciated the progress achieved by KAI. He assessed that the train is a transportation mode that possesses advantages in comfort and punctuality.

“Currently, I often use the train for traveling because of its punctuality. The food during the journey also tastes delicious,” said Hadi Tjahjanto.
