“We routinely implement this free takjil program to enhance services for Long-Distance Train customers during the Lebaran Transportation period. With this free takjil, customers do not need to worry about preparing food and drinks to break their fast while at the station,” said KAI VP Public Relations Joni Martinus.
KAI advises customers to remain compliant with health protocols by immediately putting their masks back on after eating and drinking. KAI consistently enforces health protocols in line with government regulations to ensure that homecoming and return travel using trains is safe, comfortable, and healthy.
“With this free takjil program, we hope more people will choose trains as their preferred mode of transportation during this Lebaran Transportation period,” Joni concluded.
KAI recorded that on the D-9 departure of Lebaran or Saturday (23/4), as many as 73,574 customers traveled by train to various regions during the mudik period, with occupancy reaching 63% of the 116,521 seats provided. Meanwhile, the cumulative number of travelers using the train on D-10 and D-9, or April 22 and 23, reached 140,715 customers, with occupancy hitting 60%.
In general, as of April 24, for the departure period from April 22 to May 13, KAI has sold 1,444,135 tickets, or 56% of the total available seat capacity for Long-Distance Trains. The favorite departure dates for the public's homecoming flow are April 29 and April 30, or D-3 and D-2 of Lebaran.
“KAI invites the public to embark on their mudik journeys early by train to reduce overcrowding closer to Eid. This is also in line with the recommendation of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, who urged the public to travel home early and utilize railway transportation,” Joni concluded.
