Learning on the Go, 607 Children from Orphanages Experience Whoosh with KAI

To celebrate the anniversary of Indonesia’s railway, 607 children from 20 orphanages, accompanied by 38 caregivers, got the chance to experience a journey on the Whoosh high-speed train through Whoosh Berbagi Ceria Batch II, an initiative held by KAI together with PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC).

On Tuesday (September 22), the participants traveled from Halim Station to Tegalluar Summarecon Station. The journey offered the children an educational experience to learn more about the development of railway technology in Indonesia while experiencing modern rail transportation firsthand.

KAI Finance and General Affairs Director Indarto Pamoengkas said the activity gave the children an opportunity to experience the development of railway technology in Indonesia. KAI’s long journey, from conventional trains to high-speed rail, was also introduced through the activity.

KAI also expressed its appreciation to KCIC for supporting the initiative and giving the participants an opportunity to experience traveling on Whoosh.

As Indonesia’s first high-speed train, Whoosh has become part of the development of the country’s railway technology. From January to August 2026, Whoosh served 4,078,168 customers. Its presence has brought a new rail travel experience through high-speed train technology connecting Jakarta and Bandung.

During the activity, the participants did more than simply enjoy a ride on Whoosh. They also learned about various aspects of railway services, from modern transportation to the different professions within the railway industry.

The spirit of sharing was also part of the event, with KAI and KCIC providing donations, gift packages, and school supplies to the children from the orphanages.

Whoosh Berbagi Ceria also received appreciation from Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia (MURI) Customer Relations Manager Andre Purwandono. He highlighted that experiencing a high-speed train firsthand could provide a new experience for the children while helping introduce high-speed rail to the wider community.

Through Whoosh Berbagi Ceria, KAI and KCIC brought together learning, an introduction to railway technology, and a moment of sharing and joy for children from orphanages.
