Traveling by urban rail around the Karet–Sudirman area is becoming more convenient. Access and connecting facilities are being developed to create smoother connectivity for people traveling through this strategic area of Greater Jakarta.

The development allows Karet Station and Sudirman Baru Station to maintain their respective functions while becoming increasingly connected. The goal is simple: customers can move between the station areas more easily without having to navigate complicated routes.

The high level of activity in the area is also reflected in the number of customers served. From January to August 2026, Karet Station and Sudirman Baru Station recorded a combined total of 6,702,680 customer activities.

Karet Station accounted for 4,909,334 customer activities, while Sudirman Baru Station recorded 1,793,346. These figures highlight the important role of both stations in supporting daily mobility across Greater Jakarta.

To make access more comfortable, the Karet Station area is undergoing several improvements, including enhanced landscaping, drop-off areas for onward transportation including online motorcycle taxis, better station-area utilization, and more organized pedestrian corridors.

The connection to Sudirman Baru Station is also set to receive a major boost. One 20-meter-long flat travelator and two vertical travelators will be provided to make it easier for customers to move between the station areas and access Commuter Line services.

The Kendal side is also being upgraded with additional access escalators, a covered walkway, and improved pedestrian corridors. Pedestrian areas and onward transportation access are being arranged to support smoother customer movement and reduce congestion around Karet Station.

With these improvements, Karet Station will increasingly serve as an access point for customers traveling by KRL toward Sudirman Baru. Meanwhile, the connecting facilities will make access to Commuter Line services at Sudirman Baru more convenient and comfortable.

The Karet–Sudirman area also has a long history in urban rail transportation. Karet Station has been operating since 1922, while Sudirman Baru Station began serving railway journeys in 2017–2018 and entered the area integration stage in 2026.

The improved connectivity is part of an effort to keep up with the evolving mobility needs of Greater Jakarta residents. More complete facilities are expected to create a more seamless Commuter Line experience, from station access to boarding the train.

More than simply bringing two station areas closer together, the Karet–Sudirman Baru integration creates a more modern, organized, and comfortable travel experience. With easier access, daily journeys across Greater Jakarta can become more practical.
