A total of 985.983 customer activities were recorded through the KRL gates at KAI Manggarai Station in September 2026. This high level of movement highlights the significant potential for public transport integration in the Manggarai area, following the operation of the Kelapa Gading–LRT Manggarai Station route of Jakarta LRT on September 16, 2026.

LRT Manggarai Station and KAI Manggarai Station are two physically separate stations, although they are located in the same area. Work to complete a direct connecting facility between them is currently ongoing so that customers can transfer between transport modes more easily in the future.

The Kelapa Gading–Manggarai route of Jakarta LRT spans 12.2 kilometers and serves 11 stations, with a travel time of approximately 28 minutes. The service’s arrival in the Manggarai area creates broader connectivity opportunities for public transport users.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba explained that Jakarta LRT was already operating to Manggarai, while direct access to KAI Manggarai Station was still being completed in coordination with the relevant parties. The two stations are located within the same area and are intended to be connected through an integration facility.

The significant potential for integration is reflected in customer activity at KAI Manggarai Station. According to KAI Commuter data, from January to September 2026, a total of 4.149.826 customers recorded gate-ins and 4.022.954 customers recorded gate-outs for KRL Commuter Line services. Accordingly, total activity through the KRL gates at KAI Manggarai Station during the first nine months of 2026 reached 8.172.780 customer activities.

In September 2026 alone, there were 500.934 gate-ins and 485.049 gate-outs, bringing the monthly total to 985.983 customer activities. These figures represent customers entering and exiting through the gates and do not include customers transferring between trains within the station area without passing through the gates.

Anne said KAI Manggarai Station has a travel pattern characterized by substantial transit flows. Many customers arrive on one journey before continuing on another. Therefore, completing intermodal connectivity in the area is expected to provide direct benefits for people’s daily journeys.

On March 22, 2026, KAI Manggarai Station recorded 201.617 transit customers in a single day, setting a transit record during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transportation period.

KAI Manggarai Station serves the Bogor Commuter Line and Cikarang Commuter Line. Through these two services, Manggarai forms part of journeys to and from Bogor, Depok, Nambo, Bekasi, Cikarang, and various areas of Jakarta.

KAI Manggarai Station also serves the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line. From January to September 2026, the service recorded 340.002 gate-ins and 375.915 gate-outs at KAI Manggarai Station. Total gate activity for the Airport Commuter Line during this period reached 715.917 customer activities.

Several Long-Distance Train services to and from Gambir Station also pass through the Manggarai area, but they do not serve customer boarding and alighting at KAI Manggarai Station. KAI previously recorded that Manggarai Station handled approximately 700–750 train trips per day, including Jabodetabek Commuter Line and Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line services. Since the available corporate data was provided as a range, the figure remains expressed as a range rather than a single number.

The integration concept for LRT Manggarai Station and KAI Manggarai Station is divided into three connecting zones. According to the integration planning document, Zone 1 is located on the side leading toward Sultan Agung Hospital and Pasaraya Manggarai. Zone 2 is designed to connect with the TransJakarta bus stop and Manggarai Terminal, while Zone 3 is located in the KAI area and is designed to connect with the Airport Train concourse at the West Entrance of KAI Manggarai Station through a linkway.

The construction area for the integration facilities also intersects with existing infrastructure, including the pedestrian bridge owned by the Department of Bina Marga, the TransJakarta bus stop, the Ciliwung River drainage area, and the KAI Manggarai Station area. The integration document indicates that the connecting structure leading to KAI Manggarai Station is designed to be located on the West Entrance side of Manggarai Station, including the use of part of KAI’s parking area for construction purposes.

According to Anne, completing this stage is important to ensure that intermodal integration makes transfers clearer and more comfortable for customers. Once the direct connecting facility is completed, the public is expected to have more travel options. Customers from Bogor, Depok, Bekasi, Cikarang, and Soekarno-Hatta Airport will be able to continue their journeys to the Jakarta LRT network, and vice versa.

The Jakarta Provincial Government previously stated that the process of directly connecting LRT Manggarai Station with the KAI Manggarai Station area was being carried out in collaboration with KAI.

With large numbers of customers moving through the area every day, the presence of Jakarta LRT adds another travel option in Manggarai. KAI will continue coordinating efforts to ensure that the completion of intermodal access proceeds smoothly and provides a more comfortable travel experience for the public.
