Ministry of Transportation, West Java Government, and KAI Collaborate to Strengthen Transport Connectivity in West Java
The Ministry of Transportation, the West Java Provincial Government, and KAI have agreed to strengthen transportation connectivity across West Java. The agreement was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at Bale Pakuan Building in Bandung on Friday (October 10), by Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, West Java Governor Dedy Mulyadi, and KAI Vice President Director Dody Budiawan.
This collaboration represents a strategic step to develop rail networks, enhance intermodal integration, and manage transportation assets sustainably. The goal is to create smoother, more efficient mobility while supporting regional economic growth.
Governor Dedy Mulyadi expressed hope that the cooperation will help revive old railway lines so that agricultural products and tourism sectors can further develop. “If rail lines are connected to agricultural and industrial centers, logistics costs will decrease and the people’s economy will improve,” he said.
Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi added that this synergy serves as an example of collaboration between the central government, regional authorities, and state-owned enterprises in building an integrated transportation system. “We want people to move easily between modes—from trains to airports, industrial areas, or tourist destinations—all within a modern unified system,” he explained.
KAI Vice President Director Dody Budiawan reaffirmed that KAI is ready to support transportation development in West Java through infrastructure optimization and service improvements. “We are committed to providing more inclusive services and are prepared to collaborate on electrifying main railway lines in West Java,” he said.
This agreement marks an important step toward the transformation of Indonesia’s railway system and strengthens West Java’s role as a key hub for connectivity and logistics on the island of Java.
