The Commuter Line is the lifeblood of Jakarta and its surrounding metropolitan areas. Every day, millions of workers, students, and residents rely on this mode of transportation, making crowded trains a familiar part of daily life. Now, there is encouraging news for millions of Commuter Line passengers across Greater Jakarta. The government is placing greater emphasis on improving the comfort of people who depend on this public transportation system for their everyday activities.

During the inauguration of the new Tanah Abang Station on November 4, President Prabowo Subianto not only approved KAI's plan to procure 30 new Commuter Line trainsets, but also proposed increasing the allocated budget from the initial Rp4.8 trillion to Rp5 trillion. "When it comes to serving the people, I have no hesitation," President Prabowo said, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience.

The move was welcomed by KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin, who described the President's support as an important milestone in strengthening urban public transportation services. "The President's support sends a strong signal of collaboration between the government and state-owned enterprises. Our focus is to provide journeys that are safe, punctual, and comfortable for our customers," he said.

The number of Greater Jakarta Commuter Line passengers is projected to increase from 331.8 million in 2025 to more than 417 million by 2029. The addition of these 30 new trainsets is expected to accommodate the growing demand while significantly improving the travel experience for commuters.

Anne Purba, Vice President of Public Relations at KAI, emphasized that the additional funding will accelerate efforts to expand the network's capacity. With the arrival of the new trainsets, which will complement the existing fleet—including trains supplied by CRRC and INKA—the vision of a more comfortable commuting experience is becoming a reality rather than just an aspiration.

Through this strategic initiative, KAI reaffirms its commitment to delivering modern, safe, and environmentally friendly public transportation while supporting the development of a greener urban economy.
