HAKORDIA: KAI’s Commitment to Fighting Corruption
Every year, KAI commemorates World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) on December 9 with strong enthusiasm in its efforts to combat corrupt practices. As a key player in Indonesia’s railway sector, KAI reaffirms its commitment to creating a clean and integrity-based business environment.

KAI’s commitment to corruption prevention is realized through the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG). Support from an anti-fraud system, whistleblowing system, and the implementation of the ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System serve as the foundation for the company’s operations.
VP Public Relations of KAI, Joni Martinus, stated that KAI consistently conducts risk assessments to identify potential corruption practices within the company’s operations.
“The focus is not only on internal management but also involves the asset sector, which has a direct impact on the community,” said Joni.
To ensure employee integrity, KAI implements the internalization program of the AKHLAK Corporate Culture (Amanah, Kompeten, Harmonis, Loyal, Adaptif, Kompeten). This is not just a slogan, but a culture instilled in every KAI employee. This internalization program includes cultural socialization, development activities through workshops and FGDs, BoC/BoD retreats, and evaluation through the Total Corporate Culture Health Index.
KAI employees are required to uphold the value of honesty in all aspects of their work. Training and competency development programs are continuously implemented to ensure that every individual in the company understands and applies a culture of integrity.
In efforts to prevent corruption, KAI has established an Internal Audit Unit, Whistleblowing System, Gratification Control Unit, and Asset Reporting Management Unit. The gratification control guidelines direct employees to report any form of gratification received or rejected.
“Violations of company policies or laws and regulations will be subject to sanctions in accordance with applicable provisions. This shows KAI’s commitment to maintaining employee compliance with principles and integrity values,” said Joni.
Human Resource (HR) development is a key focus for KAI in preventing employee involvement in corruption, including training programs covering whistleblowing systems, gratification control, Good Corporate Governance (GCG), and the Anti-Bribery Management System.
The implementation of GCG is considered the foundation of corporate success, based on five core principles: transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, and fairness. KAI is committed to complying with laws and regulations, fulfilling shareholder interests, and involving stakeholders in decision-making processes.
KAI strives to maintain transparency through financial reporting and information disclosure. By utilizing information technology, the company provides public information through portals and KAI’s official applications. Annual and financial reports can be easily accessed through the company website at kai.id.
KAI also collaborates with institutions such as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Police, and the Prosecutor’s Office to combat corruption. Through cooperation agreements, KAI integrates with the KPK in handling complaints via the Whistleblowing System, ensuring effective and efficient complaint handling.
With these concrete steps, KAI hopes to become a model state-owned enterprise with clean governance, provide excellent service to the public, and remain a key pillar in the development of Indonesia’s railway sector.
“Hakordia is not only an annual commemoration but also a milestone for sustainability in integrity and transparency. Let’s welcome a future without corruption!” concluded Joni.
