Daop 6 Distributes Tree Seedlings Through the BUMN Green Indonesia Programme
As part of its 2022 Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 6 (Daop 6) Yogyakarta symbolically distributed 18,000 tree seedlings valued at Rp200 million.
The assistance supports the Mountain Belt Reforestation Conservation Programme in Temanggung Regency.
The symbolic handover was carried out by Executive Vice President of KAI Daop 6, Iwan Eka Putra, to the Regent of Temanggung, H. M. Al Khadziq, at the Pendopo of the Temanggung Regent's Office on Monday (31 January).
"The Temanggung Mountain Belt Reforestation assistance is a continuation of KAI's TJSL programme implemented in 2021. This demonstrates KAI's consistent commitment to supporting environmental conservation initiatives and actively contributing to the BUMN Green Indonesia Programme," said Iwan during his remarks.
"I hope this assistance will have a positive impact on preserving and protecting the environment in the Sindoro–Sumbing–Prau Mountain Belt," he added.
The assistance was officially received by Temanggung Regent H. M. Al Khadziq at the Pendopo of the Temanggung Regent's Office and witnessed by the Head of the Temanggung Environmental Agency, the Head of the Temanggung Agriculture Agency, and the Sindoro–Sumbing–Prau Mountain Conservation Volunteer Team.
The assistance consists of conservation plant seedlings, including 8,000 bamboo seedlings, 5,000 banyan tree seedlings, and 5,000 sugar palm seedlings. These seedlings will be used for environmental rehabilitation through soil and water conservation efforts across the slopes of Mount Sindoro, Mount Sumbing, and Mount Prau, covering 11 districts in Temanggung Regency.
Temanggung Regent H. M. Al Khadziq expressed his appreciation for KAI's continued commitment to providing sustainable environmental assistance. He explained that the first phase of tree planting carried out in 2021 had been successfully implemented with the support of the Temanggung Volunteer Team. The planting schedule was adjusted to the appropriate planting season to maximise the survival rate of the seedlings.
"The planting methods will be adapted to the types of crops and the characteristics of local community land so the trees can be cultivated effectively. I hope this reforestation programme will help preserve water springs and support sustainable forest conservation," said Al Khadziq. (Public Relations KAI)
