KAI and BPH Migas Strengthen Collaboration Aboard an Inspection Train
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) and the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) held a meeting aboard an Inspection Train on the Gambir Station-Cirebon Station round-trip route on Friday (10/12).
The meeting served as an opportunity for KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo and BPH Migas Head Erika Retnowati, along with their respective teams, to strengthen relations and coordinate on matters that could be further improved by both parties.
"With the increasingly close relationship between KAI and BPH Migas, we hope that together we can provide greater value for Indonesia through the responsibilities entrusted to each of us," said KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo.
In line with this statement, BPH Migas Head Erika Retnowati said that the meeting was expected to become a positive starting point for KAI and BPH Migas to achieve greater collaboration in the future.
To ensure sustainable coal transportation for the benefit of the wider community, KAI continues to coordinate with all stakeholders. Coordination with BPH Migas is one of KAI's efforts to optimize coal distribution services.
The availability of subsidized fuel quotas for mass transportation such as railways is essential. Rail transport offers many advantages, including energy efficiency, reducing road congestion, maintaining a high level of safety, and providing reliable on-time services.
Not only for passenger transportation, rail freight services also offer significant advantages over other land transportation modes. They are more environmentally friendly, operate on scheduled and punctual deliveries, and are free from illegal levies.
"Railways are an efficient mode of transportation because a single trip can transport hundreds of tons of goods and serve thousands of passengers," said Didiek.
For freight transportation, KAI continues to develop coal transportation services in Southern Sumatra. By ensuring smooth, safe, and environmentally friendly coal distribution through rail transport, KAI contributes to securing the nation's energy supply.
The use of subsidized fuel, particularly for freight transportation, will help reduce logistics costs, thereby improving the competitiveness of rail freight services compared to other logistics transportation modes.
Previously, on 19 August 2021, KAI signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with PT Bukit Asam (PTBA) and PLN to help secure coal supplies in support of national energy security.
"Throughout the pandemic, KAI has continued striving to contribute to the people of Indonesia by providing reliable railway transportation services," Didiek concluded. (Public Relations KAI)
