KAI and Perumnas Sign MoU for the Development of a New Railway Station
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) and Perum Perumnas have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the planned development of the new Parayasa Station and the improvement of accessibility to Parung Panjang Station. The MoU was signed by KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo and Perumnas President Director Budi Saddewa Soediro at the Jakarta Railway Center (JRC), Jakarta, on Friday (10/12).
"The signing of this MoU reflects the consistent commitment of KAI and Perumnas to continue collaborating in optimizing the use of strategically located land and developing integrated Transit Oriented Development (TOD) areas," said KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo.
The public has shown strong enthusiasm for this development plan, as the concept of residential areas integrated with Commuter Line transportation, or Transit Oriented Development (TOD), has become a growing property trend that offers many benefits. It supports residents' mobility, while its location and concept are well suited for millennials and homebuyers with high mobility needs.
Didiek said that developing residential areas integrated with public transportation such as railways is in line with the government's program to improve urban efficiency in Indonesia. This initiative also supports KAI's vision of becoming the best transportation ecosystem solution for Indonesia.
The MoU serves as the foundation for KAI and Perumnas to carry out cooperation in accordance with applicable laws and regulations while implementing the principles of Good Corporate Governance.
Through this MoU, KAI and Perumnas will work together to build a new railway station in Lumpang Village, Parung Panjang District, Bogor Regency, as well as develop a new pedestrian access on the southern side of Parung Panjang Station, including a pedestrian bridge and Commuter Junction facilities. The project aims to improve operational effectiveness and provide easier accessibility for the wider community.
Perumnas President Director Budi Saddewa Soediro said that Perumnas expects its collaboration with KAI to extend beyond optimizing idle land around Commuter Line stations, as previously implemented. The partnership will also expand into Transit Oriented Development (TOD) for landed housing through the construction of a new station located within the Samesta Parayasa residential area in Parung Panjang.
"With a total of 12,100 housing units spread across approximately 200 hectares, residents of Samesta Parayasa will enjoy easy access to Commuter Line services, with the station located directly within the residential area," said Budi.
The new station will be served by Commuter Line routes connecting Tanah Abang, Serpong, Parung Panjang, Maja, and Rangkasbitung. Currently, there are 210 Commuter Line trips operating daily on the Tanah Abang–Rangkasbitung route, serving an average of 77,000 passengers each day.
The average daily passenger volume at Parung Panjang Station reached 6,459 passengers in November 2021. Before the pandemic, in November 2019, the station served an average of 12,356 passengers per day. With the construction of the new station and the enhancement of the existing station, the number of Commuter Line passengers served is expected to continue increasing.
"We highly welcome this synergy. Therefore, we are confident and optimistic that this collaboration will be successfully implemented and provide significant benefits for the residents of Samesta Parayasa and the surrounding community," said Budi. (Public Relations KAI)
