Following the implementation of Law No. 14 of 2008 on Public Information Disclosure, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), as a public body, is committed to implementing and managing public information transparency in the best possible way.

To fulfill the mandate of the law, KAI established a dedicated unit responsible for managing public information and documentation. Through this unit, members of the public who wish to obtain information about KAI can submit requests through the Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID), which oversees public information disclosure within KAI.

The public may obtain information related to KAI as long as the requested information is not classified as exempt. Exempt information generally includes information that, if disclosed, could interfere with the protection of intellectual property rights or fair business competition.

In addition, KAI's PPID may refuse requests for information that could harm national economic resilience or disclose personal confidential information. Other information, such as KAI's financial reports, production asset lists, and freight and passenger transportation performance, can be accessed through the KAI PPID.

In today's digital era, people need information that is easy, fast, and practical to access. To meet this need, KAI has introduced the PPID mobile application. All content within the application is fully based on the provisions of Law No. 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure.

In addition to providing KAI's Public Information List and regulations related to the Central Information Commission (KIP), the application also features a dedicated Public Information Request menu. This menu connects users directly with the PPID administrator for assistance.

To submit an information request, users simply click the Request menu. They will first be directed to create an account before completing the information request form. Once the account has been created, applicants can fill in their personal information and specify the information they need according to their requirements.

Applicants then only need to wait 10+7 working days to receive a response via email. If they are not satisfied with the response, they can submit an objection through the Objection Request menu available in the application.

Although the application was only launched in early August, the KAI PPID mobile application has already received a positive response from the public. To date, more than 100 users have downloaded the application, and it has received favorable ratings from its users.

"KAI continues to strive to provide the best possible service to the public. We consistently introduce innovations to improve services for both customers and the wider community. KAI will continue to maximize the use of digital platforms as part of its transformation efforts and performance improvement to deliver excellent public services," said KAI Vice President Public Relations Joni Martinus.

From 2020 through June 2021, KAI's PPID handled 557 public information requests. These requests were processed in accordance with the Public Information Disclosure Law as part of KAI's commitment to providing accurate and accountable public information services. This commitment was recognized when KAI received the "Informative Public Body – State-Owned Enterprise Category" award at the Public Information Disclosure Awards organized by the Central Information Commission (KIP) of the Republic of Indonesia at the end of 2020.
