Train travel is no longer just about reaching the destination, but also about enjoying the journey along the way. From January to September 2026, experience-based services continued to gain interest, including Panoramic Train and Compartment Suites.

Panoramic Train served 158,445 customers during the first nine months of 2026, up 59.40 percent from 99,403 customers in the same period of 2025. Meanwhile, Compartment Suites served 42,694 customers, growing by around 48 percent from 28,847 customers recorded from January to September 2025.

The growth reflects increasingly diverse preferences among intercity train travelers. Some customers want to enjoy the scenery throughout the journey, while others are looking for a more private and comfortable travel space.

Panoramic Train offers a wider view of landscapes along the route through its large windows. Meanwhile, Compartment Suites provides individual cabins designed to offer greater privacy on selected intercity journeys.

The trend also comes alongside growing mobility and tourism activity across Indonesia. Statistics Indonesia recorded 10.58 million international tourist arrivals from January to August 2026, an increase of around 5.38 percent compared with the same period last year.

The railway network connecting cities across Indonesia creates opportunities to offer travel experiences with different characteristics. Services can cater to various needs, from leisure and business trips to journeys where comfort and privacy are the main priorities.

Beyond Panoramic Train and Compartment Suites, KAI continues to develop services with distinct travel experiences, including Nusantara Explorer. These innovations are part of KAI’s efforts to provide more travel choices that fit the evolving mobility preferences of customers.

By utilizing customer data and monitoring travel trends, KAI continues to develop services that are increasingly relevant to the public. This way, train travel becomes more than simply getting from one city to another—it can also be an experience worth enjoying along the way.
