KAI Signs Cooperation Agreement with the Istiqlal Mosque Management Agency to Support the Development of the Istiqlal Mosque Surroundings

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) and the Istiqlal Mosque Management Agency signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) on the Utilization of Land for the Development of the Istiqlal Mosque Surroundings. The agreement was signed by KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo and the Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque, Nasaruddin Umar, as the Daily Chairman of the Istiqlal Mosque Management Agency, at Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, on Thursday (30/9).

The purpose of this agreement is to provide a legal basis for the cooperation in utilizing KAI-owned land located between Juanda Station and Gambir Station to support the development of the Istiqlal Mosque surroundings. The 11,983.54-square-meter land will be developed with supporting infrastructure and facilities as part of the environmental improvement project around Istiqlal Mosque.

KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo said that KAI is proud to collaborate with Istiqlal Mosque and contribute to the renovation of the mosque, whose beauty can now be truly appreciated.

"We sincerely hope that KAI's land can be utilized in the best possible way for the benefit of the Istiqlal Mosque community and the wider public," added Didiek.

The development of the Istiqlal Mosque surroundings and this cooperation with KAI represent the implementation of KAI's AKHLAK core values, which stand for Trustworthy, Competent, Harmonious, Loyal, Adaptive, and Collaborative. KAI continues to collaborate with various stakeholders to create added value for the community.

"We hope that what we have done today will receive blessings from Allah SWT, and that KAI will continue to be granted ease, success, and recovery so that we can serve the public to the best of our ability. We also hope that trains will once again become the preferred mode of transportation for the public without limitations and continue to be a source of pride for Indonesia," Didiek concluded.

Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque Nasaruddin Umar said that Istiqlal Mosque is located in one of Jakarta's most strategic areas, making its position highly significant. Therefore, KAI's contribution by providing land for the development of the mosque's surroundings is an extraordinary commitment.

"Once again, on behalf of the entire management and the Istiqlal community—not only in Indonesia but also as an institution that has gained international recognition—I would like to express my sincere gratitude to KAI, especially to KAI President Director Mr. Didiek," said Nasaruddin Umar.

Prior to this agreement, KAI had also collaborated with Istiqlal Mosque in supporting its development and providing assistance for orphans. On 27 November 2020, KAI donated Rp250,000,000 to support the development of Istiqlal Mosque facilities. Later, on 28 April 2021, KAI provided Rp25,000,000 in assistance for orphans during the commemoration of Nuzulul Quran at Istiqlal Mosque. (Public Relations KAI)
