PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) continues to innovate to improve the comfort and safety of public transportation services, especially on LRT Jabodebek. One of the latest innovations implemented is the Crowd Detection System, a system capable of detecting passenger density at stations and inside trainsets in real time. After a trial period, the system is now fully operational to help passengers avoid crowded conditions and enjoy a more comfortable journey.

The Crowd Detection System provides live information on crowd levels in each carriage and station, which can be accessed by passengers through their devices. This allows users to choose less crowded train cars, making travel more efficient and comfortable. The implementation of this technology is a clear demonstration of KAI’s commitment to improving service quality and passenger safety.

Since being fully operational, the system has significantly increased public interest in LRT Jabodebek services. From October 1 to 14, 2024, a total of 987,338 passengers used the service, with an average of 82,298 passengers on weekdays and 41,091 passengers on weekends. These figures indicate a positive public response to safe and comfortable public transportation.

The detection system uses CCTV cameras and image processing technology to calculate the number of passengers in specific areas in real time. The resulting data helps KAI manage passenger flow more effectively, prevent overcrowding, and maintain smooth operations across stations and trains. This technology also assists staff in ensuring safety and comfort for users on every journey.

This innovation is just one of many efforts by KAI to continuously improve services for passengers. With better services, KAI is confident that LRT Jabodebek will become the preferred public transportation choice in the Greater Jakarta area.

In addition, KAI reminds passengers to always be mindful of their belongings during travel. Based on data, from January to September 2024, there were 4,233 reported cases of lost items on LRT Jabodebek, including electronic money cards, water bottles, wallets, and other personal belongings. KAI actively provides education and reminders for passengers to be more careful with their personal items.

KAI also provides dedicated staff to assist passengers who lose their belongings. Stations and trains are equipped with CCTV to monitor areas comprehensively. LRT Jabodebek staff regularly inspect train and station areas to ensure lost items are promptly secured.

To report lost items, passengers can contact station staff, the KAI Contact Center at 121, email [email protected], or reach out via KAI121 social media. These measures are taken to ensure issues are handled quickly and effectively.

Through various technological innovations and service improvements, KAI remains committed to making LRT Jabodebek the leading public transportation option in the Greater Jakarta area. Continuous technological development and responsive service are expected to enhance the overall passenger experience.
