KAI continues to be committed to taking various steps to sterilize railway tracks, one of which is collaboration with local stakeholders to address community habits such as littering along railway lines, opening illegal crossings, and burning waste near the tracks.

Vice President Public Relations of KAI, Anne Purba, stated that areas around railway tracks must be free from anything that could endanger train operations or public safety. “Behaviors such as throwing trash, creating illegal crossings, or burning waste along the tracks have the potential to disrupt and endanger train operations,” Anne added.

Recently, KAI carried out a cleanup of garbage in station areas and along railway tracks from Kemayoran Station to Tanjung Priok Station on Wednesday, August 7. In this action, KAI collaborated with local subdistrict offices, the police sector (Polsek), and the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP).

“On the same day, KAI also closed illegal crossings in cooperation with local authorities. The closed illegal crossings were located under the Pasar Natar flyover in South Lampung, as well as at JPL 260 Km 260+1/2 on the Ciledug–Ketanggungan track segment, Luwunggede Village, Tanjung District, Cirebon Regency,” Anne explained.

Anne emphasized that these steps are part of sterilization efforts to support railway operational safety, aimed at providing a sense of security and comfort for train passengers.
