PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) continues to be committed to providing safe, comfortable, and efficient transportation to meet the needs of its customers. During the 2024 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) transportation period, KAI presents a new face and service transformation at Stasiun Purwokerto.

KAI Vice President Public Relations, Joni Martinus, stated that this new look and service transformation marks a new chapter in improving services at Purwokerto Station. This is a form of KAI’s commitment to providing excellent service, adding value, and delivering benefits to the public, especially in serving customers during the Nataru holiday period.

So, what facilities can you enjoy when stopping by Purwokerto Station? Here is the explanation.

1. Skybridge

Now, traveling by train from Purwokerto Station is easier and more comfortable with the presence of a connecting bridge (skybridge). This skybridge connects the ticketing building and customer service counter to the waiting room in Zone 2 of Purwokerto Station. Built since December 9, 2022, the skybridge has a length of 36 meters, a width of 6 meters, and can accommodate approximately 100 people—quite spacious, right?

Access to the skybridge is also very convenient via the station entrance on Jalan Kober. Equipped with an elevator for passengers with disabilities and escalators connecting the 2nd and 1st floors of Zone 2 waiting room, the skybridge provides extra comfort.

2. Customer Service Counter and Ticketing Service

To make it easier for you to get offline information and purchase go-show tickets (three hours before train departure), a customer service counter and ticketing office are available with a modern and minimalist concept. With an area of approximately 60 m², this building is equipped with air conditioning, sofas, a charging corner, and a train information TV.

This facility was built together with the skybridge construction starting on December 9, 2022, and completed on December 10, 2023.

3. Serayu Lounge

For passengers holding panoramic, priority, and luxury train tickets, you can enjoy the Serayu Lounge, which features a classic Javanese atmosphere. With a capacity of approximately 10 people, this lounge is equipped with toilets that provide hot water facilities.

Serayu Lounge, inspired by the Serayu River and the Serayu train, was built in a short time from October 9, 2023, to December 10, 2023. You definitely must try this facility!

4. Face Recognition

Boarding becomes more efficient with the Face Recognition Boarding Gate at Purwokerto Station. You no longer need to show tickets and ID cards because the system identifies and validates identity through facial scanning integrated with train ticket data.

Currently, there are four boarding gates with Face Recognition technology in the skybridge, both at the entrance from Jalan Kober and in the new station building of Purwokerto Station.

Joni stated that other service improvements at Purwokerto Station include tenant spaces, Zone 3 toilets, gate-in systems, four-wheeled vehicle drop zones, motorcycle parking areas, and landscaping arrangements.

He added that:

“The hope is that the new face of Purwokerto Station will provide convenience and benefits for customers and become a pride not only for KAI but also for the people of Purwokerto. These service improvements are part of KAI’s adaptation to customer needs and the realization of its vision as the best transportation ecosystem solution for Indonesia. This commitment will continue to be maintained with an adaptive, solution-oriented, and collaborative spirit to support the advancement of Indonesian transportation.”
