The inauguration of this locomotive monument was carried out by various parties, such as KGPAA Mangkunagoro X GPH Bhre Cakrahutomo Wira Sudjiwo, President Director of KAI Didiek Hartantyo, and EVP of Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Bambang Respationo.

In his remarks, KGPAA Mangkunagoro X GPH Bhre Cakrahutomo Wira Sudjiwo expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by KAI. He stated that KAI is an innovative and progressive company in the advancement of railway transportation, but what makes it unique is its commitment to preserving history. This is the first step marking good cooperation between KAI, the Surakarta City Government, and Pura Mangkunegaran in reviving memories of the past as an icon of Solo City. It is hoped that this collaboration will continue and bring great benefits in the future.

Didiek Hartantyo, President Director of KAI, emphasized the close relationship between Solo Balapan Station and Pura Mangkunegaran. This station was established more than 150 years ago on the initiative of the Mangkunegaran leader of Solo, KGPAA Mangkunagoro IV. Therefore, the inauguration of the D 301 76 Locomotive Monument is a source of pride, as it is a historic step taken together with KGPAA Mangkunagoro X.

The construction of this Locomotive Monument is also an initiative of the Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who wished to add another monument in Solo City. Therefore, KAI has presented the D 301 76 Locomotive Monument at Solo Balapan Station, and the Mayor expressed gratitude to the Surakarta City Government for helping realize it.

This monument is beautifully placed in the front yard of Solo Balapan Station, creating a new icon that can be enjoyed by visitors and pedestrians. In addition to being an aesthetic object, this monument also has an educational purpose. It will provide valuable historical understanding to the public about the development of railways in Indonesia. The D 301 locomotive is a diesel hydraulic type locomotive that was once active in Central Java to pull mixed trains consisting of two passenger coaches and three freight wagons on routes such as Semarang–Demak–Rembang–Blora, Demak–Purwodadi–Gambringan, Yogyakarta–Magelang, Yogyakarta–Bantul, and Purwosari–Wonogiri. A total of 80 units of this locomotive were purchased from the Krupp factory in Germany in 1962.

The presence of this monument also improves the arrangement of the surrounding area, creating a more orderly and beautiful environment so that visitors can enjoy it comfortably. The D 301 locomotive has previously also been used as a monument in the Daop 8 Surabaya and Daop 9 Jember regions as a landmark or marker for station areas and office complexes.

In addition to the Locomotive Monument, Solo Balapan Station has also undergone various positive improvements. One of them is the new toilet in zone 3, which can be used by passengers before entering the boarding gate area. Ticket counters and customer service facilities have also been revitalized to provide a better customer experience. Clearer signage installation also helps passengers access rail transportation services.

In addition to facility improvements, Daop 6 Yogyakarta also provides a non-commercial public space in the Solo Balapan Station hall. This hall can be used for various non-commercial activities, such as art performances and other community events.
