President Director of KAI, Didiek Hartantyo, said that Hype Trip is applied to KA Taksaka as a pilot project because many of KA Taksaka's customers come from Gen Y and Z. Based on data, in the period of January to June 2022, as many as 58% or 2.7 million KA Taksaka customers were aged 12-41 years. In addition, KA Taksaka is also a train that connects an economic center area with one of the tourism and education destinations.
“The presence of this Hype Trip aims to accommodate dynamically changing customer needs. For that reason, KAI offers a unique and fresh experience, especially for millennials who tend to want to try new things so they can enjoy their train journey more,” said Didiek when inaugurating the Hype Trip journey at Yogyakarta Station, Friday (23/9).

Train travel with this Hype Trip concept is part of KAI's service improvement in order to welcome KAI's 77th Anniversary which is commemorated on September 28, 2022, with the theme Rise Faster, Serve Better.

Through this rebranding of KA Taksaka into a Hype Trip train, KAI provides food and beverage menus adjusted to the tastes of millennials. The special menus offered are Iced Coffee with Palm Sugar, Thai Tea, Cream Soup, Tom Yum, Spaghetti, Chicken Katsu & French Fries, Indomie Goreng Chicken Katsu Sambal Geprek, Dimsum, Odeng, and others.

On the Hype Trip train, board games are also available to play during the journey. The additional facilities in the form of games are flash cards, jenga blocks, UNO cards, and snakes and ladders.

The uniforms worn by the train crew are also uniquely designed in a millennial style. Conductor officers who previously wore suits are now replaced with vests. Meanwhile, the prama and prami officers who previously wore gray uniforms now use bomber jackets as well as hats for prama and scarfs for prami.

In addition, livery with a Hype Trip nuance is also applied to the interior and exterior of the train. The livery installed on the locomotive and carriages is designed to be full of color. In the interior, motivational words are also installed to inspire and encourage customers.

Customers can also still utilize free Wi-Fi throughout the KA Taksaka journey and the Entertainment On Board (EOB) service in the form of various entertainment content during the trip. With the availability of free Wi-Fi and this EOB service, customers can still do activities such as working, accessing entertainment content, and communicating during the journey.
The presence of this Hype Trip shows that KAI continues to listen to customer desires and makes various innovations to improve service for customers. KAI will apply similar services to other trains as well as various other unique breakthroughs to provide a different experience to customers.

“We hope this new Hype Trip service can leave a deep impression on customers, thereby maintaining loyal customers as well as attracting new KAI customers,” concluded Didiek.
