To celebrate the 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) held various activities on August 17, 2022, across its work areas. In Daop 4 Semarang, KAI partnered with Anne Avantie, a fashion designer and pioneer of contemporary kebaya, to hold a fashion show featuring KAI front liners with the theme "Merdeka Indonesiaku Wastra" and distributed shawls to Argo Muria train passengers.

In Daop 1 Jakarta, KAI brought a heritage vibe by operating two historic train units, the Bon-Bon Locomotive and the Djoko Kendil Carriage, from Jakarta Kota Station to Tanjung Priok Station. The "Historic Train Says Hello" activity, in collaboration with the IRPS community, demonstrates KAI's commitment to maintaining and preserving railway infrastructure that is part of Indonesia's history. Similar activities with rail enthusiast communities also took place in Daop 7 Madiun and Daop 9 Jember to celebrate the 77th Independence Day. KAI employees and community representatives worked together to wash and decorate locomotives with red and white ornaments.

KAI also marked Independence Day by supporting MSMEs to recover faster and rise stronger through an "Angkringan on Station" event held in Daop 5 Purwokerto. Additionally, the planting of 77 kyojay mango trees colored the celebration in Daop 5 as KAI’s support for the "BUMN Hijaukan Indonesia" (SOE Greening Indonesia) program.

To inspire love for the nation, KAI Divre I Medan held a "Choir on Train" event. KAI invited passengers to reminisce and join in singing national songs performed by a choir during the Srilelawangsa train trip from Medan Station to Binjai Station. Furthermore, KAI Divre I Medan held a "Make A Wish: Recover Faster, Rise Stronger" activity where prospective passengers and station visitors wrote their hopes for Indonesia and posted them on the top of the vintage BB302 locomotive.

The atmosphere of the 77th Independence Day was felt across all KAI work areas. Besides decorating stations and trains with red and white ornaments, KAI front liners wore traditional clothing from various regions of the archipelago on Wednesday (17/8). KAI also invited passengers at stations and on trains to commemorate Independence Day by simultaneously paying respect to the Red and White flag during the ceremony for the 77th Independence Day. Souvenirs and ticket vouchers were also distributed to passengers to further enliven the celebration within KAI.
