PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has established a human resources collaboration with Malaysian train operator Prasarana Berhad for the operation of the Jabodebek LRT, aiming to prepare Automated Railway Vehicle Crews and Automated Controllers for the Jabodebek LRT.

Given the extensive experience possessed by Prasarana Berhad in operating automated trains with Grade of Automation (GoA) technology since 1998, it is no surprise that PT KAI is working with them to gain insights and transfer knowledge regarding the system, which will later be useful for running the Jabodebek LRT.

PT KAI is determined to ensure that the Jabodebek LRT operations run as smoothly as possible while strictly prioritizing passenger safety. Therefore, PT KAI is conducting training sessions to enhance quality human resources for the Jabodebek LRT operations.

According to KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo when opening the training at KAI's Ir. H. Djuanda Education and Training Center, Bandung, Thursday (7/7):
“The collaboration with Prasarana Berhad is an effort by PT KAI to deliver maximum Jabodebek LRT services to users, while simultaneously providing training to the Jabodebek LRT personnel so they can possess high standards and quality in LRT operations, which will ultimately provide comfort and safety for Jabodebek LRT users,” said Didiek Hartantyo.

The training began with theoretical lessons at the KAI Head Office, Bandung, attended by 92 employees, and they will subsequently be sent to Malaysia to undergo practical training there.

While there, participants will receive materials regarding Grade of Automation 3 (GoA3), such as how to operate it, understanding the GoA3 signaling system, the rulebook, handling emergency conditions, and more.

“The Jabodebek LRT is a collaboration between PT KAI and various stakeholders, SOEs (Adhi Karya, Inka, Len), and also the government. The operation of the Jabodebek LRT will commence in the near future. PT KAI and related stakeholders ensure safety in both the construction and operation of the Jabodebek LRT,” said Didiek Hartantyo.

Didiek stated that KAI is grateful for the mandate given by the government through the operational assignment of the Jabodebek LRT, which represents the most modern rail transportation as its operations will run automatically without a driver.
