With the station now operational, KAI is committed to optimizing Matraman Station to serve the public traveling by Commuter Line in the capital city.
On behalf of KAI, President Director Didiek Hartantyo expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Transportation for the realization of Matraman Station as part of the efforts to improve the Jabodetabek Commuter Line mass transit service. KAI will deliver the best service for customers at this station.
The presence of Matraman Station offers an alternative for Commuter Line passengers to board and disembark. Located between Manggarai Station and Jatinegara Station, it is expected to alleviate congestion at both of those major stations.
“The presence of Matraman Station will also facilitate mobility for the public boarding and disembarking Commuter Line trains around the areas of Matraman, Kampung Melayu, Salemba, Pramuka, and others,” Didiek stated.
The construction of Matraman Station was designed to make it accessible and friendly for people with disabilities. Various supporting facilities for people with disabilities include specialized accessible toilets, priority elevators, and tactile guiding blocks for the visually impaired.
“KAI hopes that with the operation of Matraman Station, Commuter Line passengers will experience greater comfort and convenience in their commutes. The presence of Matraman Station is also expected to further encourage the public to switch to mass transportation,” Didiek concluded.
Matraman Station was constructed in 2016 by the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation and began public trials on June 17, 2022. An average of 1,230 Commuter Line users per day utilized Matraman Station up until June 19, 2022. The total number of Commuter Line trips passing through this station reaches 169 trips per day, consisting of 78 trips for the Bekasi/Cikarang - Kampung Bandan via Pasar Senen route and 91 trips for the Bekasi/Cikarang - Kampung Bandan via Manggarai route.
