The Lebaran homecoming (mudik) is the most delightful moment at the end of Ramadan, allowing people to gather with parents and relatives. As is known, the government has permitted mudik for this year's Lebaran. However, members of the public who wish to travel must have received their third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine or a booster.

The fact that rail transportation remains a favorite and a top choice for the public during this Lebaran period cannot be separated from the extraordinary dedication of KAI personnel.

During the Lebaran transportation period, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), as one of the primary national transportation modes for the holiday homecoming, must ensure that the journeys proceed safely, smoothly, and full of joy.

KAI has designated the 1443 H Lebaran Transportation period for 22 days, from D-10 to D+10 of Lebaran or from April 22 to May 13, 2022. During this period, KAI prepares all resources to serve customers to the maximum. KAI's readiness encompasses human resources, rolling stock, infrastructure, and other aspects related to overall KAI services. It is expected that with KAI's maximum preparation for this holiday transportation, the entire process of homecoming and return travel will run smoothly without hitches.

It has become a custom for KAI employees not to take leaves or travel for mudik during the Lebaran period. This is because the employees man the Lebaran transportation command posts to ensure that services and health protocol implementations at stations and throughout the journeys run well.

Not only the employees, but KAI's board of commissioners and directors also go directly into the field. They participate in monitoring the command posts at stations across KAI's operational areas throughout the transport command post period.

In their post activities, KAI Commissioners and Directors conduct checks starting from customer service, waiting room facilities, train travel administrative completeness, prospective passenger document verification desks, including antigen services and vaccination implementations at stations.

Furthermore, they ensure that supporting facilities for customers during the pandemic function properly, such as body temperature checking devices, handwashing stations, ensuring toilets are always clean, and that hand sanitizers are available for use. Railway rolling stock and infrastructure do not escape inspection, including the condition of locomotives, passenger cars, signaling facilities, train crew rooms, official buildings, and rail tracks.

KAI Vice President of Public Relations Joni Martinus ensures that train services during the holiday transportation period run according to regulations, with railway safety and security being the top priority.

All employees remain alert and continuously perform periodic checks on disaster-prone areas, stay proactive in resolving potential hazards, ensure the availability and functionality of all emergency response equipment, and increase the guarding of unauthorized level crossings through active coordination to optimize all stakeholders, including the surrounding community.

The spirit and determination to provide faster and better service are KAI's core commitments to realizing a noble intention for customers who will travel by train to meet their families, celebrating victory and joy on Lebaran day.

"All the sacrifices and hard work of all KAI personnel during this holiday transportation period are dedicated to our customers so they can travel smoothly. We also urge the public to get their booster shots immediately so that train journeys remain healthy, safe, and secure during this holiday transportation period," Joni concluded.
