Companies and employees essentially depend on one another. Employees are valuable assets because, without human resources, a company cannot operate. To build a competent workforce, a company must pay close attention to the well-being of its employees. Employee welfare plays an important role in increasing motivation, boosting morale, strengthening employee loyalty, and improving employees' quality of life and health. With better well-being, employees are able to perform at their best in achieving the company's goals.

The management of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is committed to continuously improving the welfare of its employees. One of the ways the company fulfils this commitment is by providing high-quality healthcare facilities and services.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, one of KAI's efforts to protect its employees has been facilitating access to vaccination. Currently, all KAI employees, totalling 29,167 people, have received the primary COVID-19 vaccination series (first and second doses). Meanwhile, 13,872 employees have already received booster vaccinations, and the number continues to increase as employees receive their boosters according to the scheduled vaccination programme. COVID-19 vaccination services are also provided to employees' family members. This initiative is part of KAI's effort to protect employees and their families during the pandemic while accelerating herd immunity, enabling employees to continue providing safe and excellent services to railway customers.

KAI places great importance on the health of its employees, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the company conducts an annual Medical Check-Up (MCU) programme for its employees, followed by further examinations and treatment when necessary. The MCU is a comprehensive health examination designed to assess employees' current health conditions, allowing KAI to determine their fitness for work from a medical perspective. This is essential in preventing illnesses and workplace accidents that may arise from occupational hazards.

Throughout 2021, Medical Check-Ups were conducted for 27,259 employees, representing 99.94% of the workforce. The remaining 0.06% who did not participate were mostly employees on extended medical leave and under the supervision of KAI's Health Unit.

KAI also operates 54 internal healthcare clinics known as Klinik Mediska, located throughout its Operational Areas (Daop) and Regional Divisions (Divre).

Klinik Mediska provides healthcare services that meet the standards of primary outpatient clinics. Services include general medical examinations, dental care, specialist consultations, maternal and child healthcare, family planning services, health consultations, pharmaceutical services, and chronic disease management programmes (Prolanis).

The clinics are staffed by experienced healthcare professionals, including general practitioners, dentists, specialist doctors, midwives, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, and occupational health professionals.

All active KAI employees and their registered dependants who are covered under the Company's Health Care Guarantee Programme (JPKP) are entitled to receive services at Klinik Mediska by presenting their Company Health Care Guarantee (JPKP) card, KMF card, or BPJS Kesehatan card. In addition to serving active employees, Klinik Mediska also provides healthcare services for retirees, retirees' families, and the general public through BPJS Kesehatan by selecting Klinik Mediska as their primary healthcare provider (PPK 1).

Klinik Mediska is committed to delivering comprehensive healthcare services through high-quality, professional care supported by modern medical facilities and technology.

Providing quality healthcare facilities for employees is essential. When employees' health is well maintained, their productivity also improves, contributing directly to the company's business performance. Beyond supporting business growth, these healthcare benefits also strengthen employee loyalty, as employees feel they are valued as individuals rather than simply as numbers. As a result, the company's culture becomes healthier and more people-oriented.

For primary outpatient care, advanced outpatient care, and inpatient treatment through healthcare providers cooperating under the JPKP programme, PT KAI currently partners with 425 healthcare providers. These include 325 Type A, B, and C hospitals located throughout KAI's Operational Areas and Regional Divisions, as well as 48 laboratories, 26 optical service providers, and 53 partner family clinics providing primary healthcare services.

By prioritising employee health, KAI expects to further improve the quality of service provided to customers. Customer satisfaction remains one of KAI's highest priorities and continues to inspire every member of the KAI family to deliver the best possible service. (Public Relations KAI)
