PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has expanded its live cooking service to Argo Lawu, Argo Dwipangga, Taksaka, and Argo Wilis trains as part of the celebration of KAI’s 76th Anniversary on 28 September 2021. The service was introduced following the positive response from customers to the existing live cooking experience on Argo Bromo Anggrek. On these train services, KAI provides selected chefs who prepare meals fresh in the dining car.

Passengers can order freshly prepared meals at any time by visiting the dining car. In addition to ordering directly, meals can also be ordered via WhatsApp at 0811-1061-2121 or through the KAI Access application. KAI has integrated KAI Services into the KAI Access app to make ordering more convenient. Passengers can order freshly cooked meals through the "Food" feature available in KAI Access. This feature can be accessed after passengers have booked their train tickets.

Through the KAI Access feature, passengers can even place food orders before boarding the train. In addition, the "Food" feature allows passengers to order regional specialties up to three hours before the train arrives at the station where the specialty is available. For example, passengers traveling on Argo Wilis to Surabaya can order Yogyakarta's famous gudeg. The dish will be brought onboard and served when the train reaches Yogyakarta Station.

One of the most popular menu items among train passengers is Nasi Goreng Parahyangan. This legendary dish has long been a customer favorite. Its rich combination of ingredients and distinctive flavor make it one of the most requested meals during train journeys. Another favorite is Nasi Ayam Geprek, known for its delicious spicy flavor, along with Train Chicken served with either rice or potatoes. A new menu item that passengers should also try is Nasi Sei Sapi. In addition to its unique taste, passengers can watch the meal being prepared live, creating a different culinary experience while enjoying the scenery from the dining car.

Among those who experienced the live cooking service was Jihane Almira Chadid, actress and Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata 2020. She expressed her excitement about enjoying freshly cooked meals on the train.

"The dishes I ordered were Nasi Sei Sapi, Mie Godog Jawa, and Nasi Goreng Parahyangan. They were all delicious, and the aroma was wonderful. It's a complete experience—enjoying great food while taking in the beautiful scenery," said Jihane.

Singer Budi Doremi, widely known for his hit single "Do Re Mi," also enjoyed the live cooking experience.

"I didn't expect trains to have a live cooking service where meals are prepared fresh after you order. I tried several dishes, including Nasi Sei Sapi, which was savory, delicious, and pleasantly spicy. It definitely made the journey more comfortable and enjoyable," said Budi Doremi.

In addition to introducing more convenient ordering methods and new menu selections, KAI continues to innovate in food presentation by using more environmentally friendly packaging. As part of its commitment to addressing global warming and reducing plastic waste, KAI now serves meals in packaging made from corn fiber. This eco-friendly packaging has been used since 2 July 2021 on Argo Bromo Anggrek for live cooking meals.

Vice President Public Relations KAI Joni Martinus explained that these innovations are part of KAI's commitment to delivering excellent service by creating memorable travel experiences for passengers.

"We hope this service will bring back the excitement of traveling by train while providing a memorable dining experience. KAI continues to innovate by offering a different customer experience. In addition to reducing travel times on several train services, KAI is committed to delivering even better service. This is in line with the theme of KAI's 76th Anniversary: Serving Faster and Better," concluded Joni. (Public Relations KAI)
