With fares ranging from Rp2,000 to Rp5,000, the Siliwangi train served 680,541 passengers between January and May 2026.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded that the Siliwangi train, serving the Sukabumi-Cipatat round-trip route, served 680,541 passengers from January to May 2026. This number increased by 5.75 percent compared to the 643,564 passengers served in the same period in 2025.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communications Anne Purba stated that the growth in Siliwangi passengers demonstrates that local economy train services remain in demand for daily travel, family access, education, small business, and short-distance tourism, especially during school holidays.
"With fares ranging from Rp2,000 to Rp5,000, the Siliwangi train provides families with the opportunity to plan economical, orderly, safe, and comfortable travel. The Sukabumi-Cipatat round trip also helps people reach Cianjur and the surrounding areas at a low cost."
The Siliwangi train serves the Sukabumi-Cipatat round trip with six daily trips, consisting of three trips between Sukabumi and Cipatat and three trips between Cipatat and Sukabumi. The Siliwangi train serves Sukabumi, Gandasoli, Cireungas, Lampegan, Cibeber, Cianjur, Ciranjang, Cipeuyeum, and Cipatat stations.
Fares-wise, the Siliwangi train is one of the most affordable rail transportation options. The Sukabumi-Cianjur fare is Rp3,000, Cianjur-Cipatat Rp2,000, and Sukabumi-Cipatat Rp5,000. Tickets can be booked through Access by KAI, allowing customers to plan their trips more conveniently before leaving for the station.
On a monthly basis, the Siliwangi train served 148,777 customers in January 2026, 120,875 customers in February, 153,729 customers in March, 122,038 customers in April, and 135,122 customers in May. These figures demonstrate the Siliwangi train's role as a local transportation service that is closely aligned with the community's needs.
"School holidays can be a good time for parents to introduce children to train travel. Children can learn to arrive early, queue orderly, sit appropriately, maintain cleanliness, and respect other passengers during the journey."
The Siliwangi train also plays a vital role in local mobility. Along the Sukabumi-Cipatat route, the train helps people access educational centers, markets, public services, family-friendly areas, and tourist destinations around Sukabumi, Cianjur, and Cipatat. Traveling by train offers a more reliable option in terms of travel time because it runs on rail tracks.
According to Anne, the benefits of the Siliwangi train are felt throughout the stations. The movement of passengers boarding and disembarking at small stations also creates space for food businesses, connecting transportation, and local commerce.
"The Siliwangi train is close to people's daily routines. There are customers going to school, work, doing business, visiting family, and even traveling with children. With its affordable fares, this service is a relevant option to maintain public mobility during school holidays,"
