JIS Station Begins Serving Tanjung Priok Commuter Line, Enhancing Access to Stadium Area
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) supports the limited operational activation of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Station in Sunter, North Jakarta, starting Monday (22/6). Through the Commuter Line service on the Tanjung Priok–Jakarta Kota route, JIS Station officially began serving customers during the scheduled journey at 13:00 WIB.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated that the limited operation of JIS Station is part of strengthening public transportation access in North Jakarta, while also serving as the initial phase of service before eventually developing toward the JIS Ultimate interconnection.
“Starting today, Commuter Line customers on the Tanjung Priok line have a new access option via JIS Station. The presence of this station is expected to facilitate public mobility toward the Jakarta International Stadium area and its surrounding activity hubs,”
During the limited operational phase, the KRL (Commuter Line) service on this line operates daily from 05:30 WIB to 21:00 WIB with a journey frequency of every 30 minutes. To access JIS Station, customers traveling from Jakarta Kota, Kampung Bandan, or Ancol can head to Tanjung Priok Station first, and then take the Commuter Line on the Tanjung Priok–Jakarta Kota route, which will stop at JIS Station.
Meanwhile, for the departure flow from JIS Station, KAI has designated Platform 1 to specifically serve customers bound for Ancol, Kampung Bandan, and Jakarta Kota stations.
Anne explained that the activation of JIS Station is closely related to the need for public transportation services that directly connect with mass activity areas. As a high-capacity stadium, JIS requires the support of rail transit access so that customer movement to and from the area can be more orderly, planned, and easily accessible.
“JIS Station opens up a new service space for Commuter Line customers. When sports, entertainment, or community activities take place in the JIS area, the train can be a more practical travel choice because it connects directly with the Tanjung Priok–Jakarta Kota line,”
As an appreciation to the public on Jakarta's 499th Anniversary, the travel fare to and from JIS Station is set at IDR 1 during the limited operational period from June 22 to June 28, 2026. This special promotional fare applies to Tanjung Priok Commuter Line customers boarding from JIS Station bound for Tanjung Priok, Ancol, Kampung Bandan, and Jakarta Kota stations, as well as customers from those stations disembarking at JIS Station.
KAI noted that the Commuter Line service on the Tanjung Priok line continues to show a positive trend in customer mobility within North Jakarta. The customer volume on this line was recorded at 1,599,107 passengers in 2022, rising to 2,676,363 passengers in 2023, then 3,377,633 passengers in 2024, and reaching 3,531,311 passengers in 2025. For the January–May 2026 period, the Tanjung Priok line has served 1,468,660 passengers.
According to Anne, this trend demonstrates that the public demand for rail-based public transportation in North Jakarta remains consistent. With the arrival of JIS Station, the Tanjung Priok Commuter Line service has a new service point adjacent to the stadium area, residential areas, public spaces, and community activity centers.
“KAI will ensure that services at JIS Station run safely, orderly, and are easy for customers to use. Personnel have also been deployed to assist customers during this limited operational phase, including managing the entry flow, providing platform information, journey schedules, and station area services,”
KAI will continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Transportation and the Jakarta Provincial Government in evaluating the limited operation of JIS Station. Periodic evaluations will be conducted regarding service patterns, safety, facility readiness, staff readiness, as well as the integration of access to and from the station.
Anne urged customers to pay close attention to journey schedules, follow the instructions of personnel on the platform, use electronic money cards or valid payment channels, and maintain station facilities for mutual convenience.
“This limited operation is an important milestone to ensure that JIS Station services can run well toward further development. KAI invites customers to utilize the Commuter Line as their primary public transportation access to the JIS area and the Tanjung Priok–Jakarta Kota line,”
