PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) continues to accelerate efforts to increase Commuter Line service capacity at Bogor Station through the development of platforms serving Tracks 6, 7, and 8. The project is designed to support the operation of 12-car Commuter Line trainsets (SF12) on the Bogor Line, in response to the growing mobility demand from Bogor and surrounding satellite cities to Jakarta.

Based on KAI's first semester 2026 data, Bogor Station recorded the highest Commuter Line passenger traffic among all stations serving the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) Commuter Line network. Between January and June 2026, Bogor Station recorded 18,451,462 passenger movements, consisting of 9,371,057 gate-ins and 9,080,405 gate-outs. On average, the station handled approximately 101,942 passenger movements per day.

Among the five busiest Commuter Line stations during the first semester of 2026, Bogor Station ranked first with 18,451,462 passenger movements. It was followed by Tanah Abang Station with 17,291,480 passenger movements, Sudirman Station with 13,078,339, Citayam Station with 11,465,614, and Bekasi Station with 11,425,878. These figures confirm Bogor Station's role as the primary hub for daily Commuter Line travel while highlighting the strategic importance of the Bogor Line in supporting mobility between Jakarta and its surrounding metropolitan areas.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba stated that Bogor Station's position as the busiest Commuter Line station provides a strong foundation for accelerating service capacity improvements.

"Bogor Station recorded the highest Commuter Line passenger traffic during the first semester of 2026. Therefore, the development of Platforms 6, 7, and 8 is an important step in preparing greater service capacity, particularly to support the operation of 12-car Commuter Line trainsets, or SF12," Anne said.

On a monthly basis, Commuter Line passenger movements at Bogor Station reached 3,045,950 in January, 2,665,471 in February, 3,248,710 in March, 3,139,775 in April, 3,151,673 in May, and 3,199,883 in June 2026. These figures demonstrate that Bogor Station consistently served as the primary mobility hub for Commuter Line passengers throughout the first semester of 2026.

Anne explained that the Bogor Line is one of the main Commuter Line corridors, serving passengers traveling from Bogor, Cilebut, Bojonggede, Citayam, Depok, and surrounding areas to Jakarta. In addition to Bogor Station ranking first, Citayam Station also ranked among the top five busiest stations, while Depok Baru, Bojonggede, Cilebut, and Depok stations also recorded high passenger movements. These figures further reinforce the need to increase service capacity along the Bogor Line.

"The Bogor Line remains one of the public's preferred choices for daily commuting. With the introduction of SF12 operations, passenger capacity per trip will increase while boarding and alighting processes at Bogor Station can be managed more efficiently," Anne said.

Construction work has now entered the finishing stage while operational testing is being conducted in parallel. The development of Platforms 6, 7, and 8, which began on April 15, 2026, is targeted for full completion on July 15, 2026.

The project includes preparatory works, structural and architectural improvements, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installations, railway track works, and overhead catenary system (OCS) improvements. KAI has also installed platform canopies to enhance passenger comfort while waiting for Commuter Line services, providing protection from both heat and rain.

As part of the project completion process, KAI conducted a locomotive load test on June 29, 2026, followed by an operational trial using a Commuter Line trainset on July 1, 2026. These stages were carried out to verify operational safety and infrastructure readiness before the facilities are fully commissioned.

Throughout the construction period, KAI and KAI Commuter have continued to coordinate closely to ensure customer services remain safe, orderly, and uninterrupted. KAI, together with the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, is also preparing to strengthen connectivity between Bogor Station and Bogor Paledang Station to make transfers between services more convenient for the public.

"KAI remains committed to delivering service improvements that provide direct benefits to our customers. Our focus is to provide greater capacity, a more comfortable travel experience, and better connectivity for people using public transportation," Anne concluded.
