Suite Class Compartment Ridership Surges 64.76% in the First Half of 2026
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded 26,123 customers using its Suite Class Compartment service during the first half of 2026, representing a 64.76% increase compared with 15,855 customers in the same period of 2025.
In absolute terms, the number of customers increased by 10,268 year-on-year. The growth reflects rising demand for train travel that offers greater privacy, superior comfort, personalized service, and a more relaxing travel experience.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said the Suite Class Compartment was designed to deliver a seamless premium journey from the moment customers arrive at the station, wait for departure, enter their private compartment, enjoy onboard dining, and arrive at their destination.
"The 64.76% increase demonstrates customers' positive response to a travel experience that is more private and personalized. Customers can rest, work, enjoy onboard entertainment, or simply take in the scenery from the comfort of their own private compartment," Anne said.
Suite Class Compartment is currently available on three flagship train services: Bima, operating between Gambir and Surabaya Gubeng (round trip); Argo Semeru, serving the Gambir–Surabaya Gubeng route (round trip); and Argo Bromo Anggrek, operating between Gambir and Surabaya Pasar Turi (round trip).
Each Suite Class Compartment coach features 16 exclusive private compartments. Every compartment is equipped with an automatic sliding door, providing customers with a personal space to relax or carry out various activities throughout the journey.
The seats recline up to 180 degrees, allowing them to function as fully flat beds. They are also rotatable and equipped with massage and heating functions to enhance comfort during long-distance travel.
Each compartment includes a foldable table that can be used for dining or working, along with a personal television featuring the Train Onboard Infotainment System, offering a variety of entertainment throughout the journey.
The premium service is complemented by onboard dining, including an appetizer, main course, and dessert. Meals and beverages are served directly in each private compartment by dedicated onboard attendants who are available to assist customers throughout the trip.
Before departure, Suite Class Compartment customers can enjoy access to Executive Lounges at selected stations. These lounges provide comfortable waiting areas, Wi-Fi access, and complimentary food and beverages.
"Every touchpoint contributes to the overall travel experience. That is why KAI pays close attention to the comfort of waiting lounges, the readiness of facilities, cleanliness, meal quality, and the professionalism of our onboard staff throughout the customer's journey," Anne added.
Travelling in the Suite Class Compartment also offers customers the opportunity to experience the diverse landscapes of Java. Passengers on Bima and Argo Semeru can enjoy panoramic views of rice fields, mountain ranges, and cities along Central and Southern Java.
Meanwhile, Argo Bromo Anggrek offers views of urban landscapes, expansive rice fields, and the northern coastal region of Java. Large windows in each private compartment allow customers to enjoy these changing landscapes in a peaceful and exclusive setting.
Visually, the Suite Class Compartment features the "Midnight Blue" (BIMA) design concept. A combination of deep blue tones, balanced decorative lines, and a gold crown emblem creates an elegant, minimalist, and premium appearance. The straight lines incorporated into the livery symbolize a journey toward achievement and excellence.
The interior incorporates Borobudur-inspired motifs, representing nature and the journey toward enlightenment. The ceiling features Talawang carvings, symbolizing protection and courage, complemented by hornbill motifs that represent purity and dignity.
The bluish-green interior palette creates a calm and harmonious atmosphere. Materials used throughout the compartment include granite, High Moisture Resistant (HMR) board, and Glassfibre Reinforced Cement (GRC). These materials were selected to enhance interior durability while reducing the use of plastic.
Customer comfort is further enhanced by premium restroom facilities finished with granite accents. Every element has been carefully designed to create a long-distance travel experience that is comfortable, relaxing, and memorable.
"KAI will continue evaluating customer needs, maintaining consistent service quality, preserving our facilities, and introducing innovations that enhance the travel experience. Our goal is to ensure every journey is comfortable from the moment customers arrive at the station until they reach their destination," Anne concluded.
