In the First Semester of 2026, Eight KAI Group Services Supporting Airport Access Served 7.47 Million Customers
Travel to the airport is often the beginning of holidays, family visits, and business trips. To support these journeys, KAI Group provides a range of rail-based services that connect airports with city centers and surrounding areas.
Throughout the first semester of 2026, eight KAI Group services supporting access to and from airports served 7,468,887 customers. This number increased by 2.94 percent compared to the first semester of 2025, which recorded 7,255,754 customers.
Vice President Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba stated that rail services to airports offer scheduled travel options while making it easier for customers to plan their onward journeys.
“In the first semester of 2026, the number of customers across these eight services increased by 213,133 compared to the same period last year. The presence of these services helps the public connect air travel with city centers, residential areas, activity hubs, and railway stations,” said Anne.

Anne explained that each region has service patterns tailored to the needs of the community. In Yogyakarta, customers can choose the YIA Airport Rail Link Regular service, which stops at Wates Station, or the YIA Airport Rail Link Xpress, which provides direct travel between Yogyakarta Station and YIA Airport.
In North Sumatra, the Srilelawangsa Train connects Medan with Kualanamu and extends service coverage to Kuala Bingai. Meanwhile, Commuter Line Basoetta, KA BIAS, Minangkabau Express Train, and South Sumatra LRT serve the travel characteristics of communities in their respective regions.
“The service options are diverse, ranging from direct airport trains, commuter services, local trains, to LRT. The public can choose services based on their departure location, flight schedule, and subsequent travel plans,” Anne stated.
These services also help customers reduce dependence on private vehicles for airport travel. The availability of scheduled services provides an alternative for the public to better estimate departure times, especially during weekends and holiday periods.
KAI advises customers to check schedules and ticket availability through applications and official channels of each service. Customers are also encouraged to adjust their train travel time with flight schedules, security screening processes, and airport check-in service times.
“A comfortable journey to the airport begins with proper time planning. We encourage customers to check schedules in advance and use official channels to obtain the latest travel information,” Anne concluded.
