PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) presents the Special 17-8-2026 Promo to celebrate the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia under the theme “United and Sovereign, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia.” Through this program, the public can enjoy a 17% ticket discount for commercial economy class trains and a special fare of Rp8 for LRT Jabodebek and Commuter Line journeys on August 17, 2026.

KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin said that the Independence momentum is an opportunity to bring travel closer to the public while strengthening togetherness through public transportation.

“Every journey carries families we want to meet, destinations we want to reach, and moments we want to celebrate. On Independence Day, KAI wants more people to enjoy traveling by train and celebrate togetherness as a nation,” said Bobby.

Vice President Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba said that the promo was introduced to provide wider opportunities for the public to use public transportation during the Independence momentum while inviting customers to celebrate August 17 through train travel.

“The Independence momentum has always held a special meaning for the people of Indonesia. KAI wants to bring that spirit into customers’ journeys through more affordable fares and public transportation services that connect people with their various activities,” said Anne.

For commercial economy class train services, KAI is offering a 17% discount from the normal fare. Promo tickets can be purchased from August 14, 2026 at 00:01 WIB until August 17, 2026 at 24:00 WIB, exclusively for departures on August 17, 2026 from 00:01 until 24:00 WIB.

The promo applies to commercial economy class trains in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions. The public can purchase tickets through Access by KAI and other official KAI ticket sales channels.

In addition to intercity travel, the spirit of Independence will also be present in urban transportation services. On August 17, 2026, customers can use LRT Jabodebek and the Commuter Line for a special fare of Rp8 for journeys from 00:01 until 24:00 WIB.

Anne said that the special fare is expected to encourage the public to use public transportation to travel to activity centers, public spaces, tourist areas, and to take part in various Independence Day celebrations in urban and agglomeration areas.
