Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya visited Pasar Senen Station in Central Jakarta to inspect the services and facilities of long-distance train operations. During the visit, Teddy greeted Eid travelers as well as railway personnel, including train drivers.

According to detikcom, on Tuesday (17 March 2026), Teddy was accompanied by KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin during the inspection. At the station, Teddy also boarded one of the People's Economy Train coaches, an additional train service introduced for the 2026 Eid transportation period.

During the visit, Teddy spoke with passengers and asked about the comfort of the train facilities. The People's Economy Train features reversible seats arranged so that passengers do not sit facing each other. Each coach accommodates 93 seats, fewer than the 106 seats available in conventional economy-class coaches.

"Is the train comfortable? This is the President Director who redesigned the train's interior," Teddy said while speaking with passengers.
On a separate occasion, Teddy conveyed President Prabowo Subianto's directive to continue improving Indonesia's railway services. After observing the facilities firsthand, he expressed satisfaction with the quality of the service.

"In line with the President's directive, his focus is on improving railway services. That is why we came here to inspect them. We looked at the People's Economy Train. Previously, fares from Jakarta to Yogyakarta ranged from Rp225,000 to Rp250,000. Today, after speaking directly with passengers, I found that the fares have dropped significantly to around Rp135,000 to Rp175,000, while the facilities have improved. So, fares have gone down, while service quality has improved," he said.

"As you could see, the air conditioning is working well, the toilets are clean, and the seats no longer face each other. It is a comfortable journey for the six-hour trip to Yogyakarta. Alhamdulillah, the coaches were upgraded quickly and are now operating on services from Jakarta to destinations in Java, including Yogyakarta," Teddy added.

Teddy expressed his hope that KAI would continue developing Indonesia's railway system, not only on the island of Java but also in other regions across the country.

"We will continue developing this, although it will take time. Since the work is being carried out by KAI itself, the process has been relatively fast. The goal is to improve the quality, comfort, and cleanliness of railway services throughout Indonesia, not only in Java but also on other islands. That is the President's message," he said.
