Starting October 1 2026, Argo Muria, Argo Sindoro, and Argo Merbabu to Use a Single Name: Muria Train

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) will simplify the identity of Train services on the Semarang Tawang–Gambir PP route. Starting October 1, 2026, journeys that have previously operated under the names Argo Muria Train, Argo Sindoro Train, and Argo Merbabu Train will operate under a single name, namely Muria Train.

Vice President Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba said the simplification of the naming is intended to provide a more concise, consistent, and easily recognizable service identity for customers.

“Starting October 1, 2026, customers will recognize journeys that previously operated under the names Argo Muria, Argo Sindoro, and Argo Merbabu under a single identity, namely Muria Train. The simpler name is expected to be easier to remember when customers search for schedules or book tickets,” said Anne.

Train Muria will operate 12 journeys every day on the Semarang Tawang–Gambir PP route, consisting of six journeys from Semarang Tawang to Gambir and six journeys from Gambir to Semarang Tawang.

Departure options are available from morning to night. From Semarang Tawang, Muria Train is scheduled to depart at 05.50, 07.00, 14.00, 16.55, 19.00, and 22.40 WIB. Meanwhile, from Gambir, departures are available at 06.00, 07.15, 12.00, 16.45, 19.45, and 22.40 WIB.

With these schedule options, customers can continue to adjust their journeys between Jakarta and Semarang according to their respective activity needs.

“This identity simplification is being carried out gradually. We want Muria Train to become increasingly established as an easily recognizable name and serve as KAI’s journey identity on the Semarang Tawang–Gambir route,” said Anne.

KAI urges customers who usually use Argo Muria Train, Argo Sindoro, or Argo Merbabu to pay attention to the name Muria Train when searching for schedules and booking tickets for journeys starting October 1, 2026.

Schedule information and ticket bookings can be accessed through the Access by KAI application as well as KAI’s official ticket sales channels.
