PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) noted a continued increase in customer interest in its Priority Tourist Train. Between January and May 2026, Priority Trains served 46,900 customers across 1,818 trips. This number increased by 88.10 percent compared to the same period in 2025, when 24,934 customers traveled across 967 trips.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communications Anne Purba stated that this growth demonstrates that customers are increasingly seeking more comfortable, private, and memorable travel experiences, especially during school holidays.

"Priority Trains are an option for customers who want to enjoy a quieter journey with more spacious seats and entertainment facilities onboard. During school holidays, this service can be an option for families seeking a more comfortable journey,"

Based on monthly data, Priority Trains served 9,818 passengers on 324 trips in January 2026, 8,150 passengers on 357 trips in February, 12,675 passengers on 462 trips in March, 7,280 passengers on 312 trips in April, and 8,977 passengers on 363 trips in May. March was the month with the highest volume in the first five months of 2026.

An increase was also seen in May 2026. Priority Trains served 8,977 passengers, a 39.89 percent increase compared to 6,417 passengers in May 2025. In terms of travel, the volume increased from 268 trips in May 2025 to 363 trips in May 2026, representing a 35.45 percent increase.

Anne explained that the Priority Train is a premium tourist train that can be combined with certain train journeys. Currently, the Priority Train regularly serves customers on the Pandalungan train (round trip) from Gambir to Jember and the Parahyangan train (round trip) from Gambir to Bandung.

In addition to these regular services, the Priority Train can also be booked for group needs through KAI Wisata. Customers, agencies, communities, and families can charter a Priority train depending on facility availability and operational requirements.

With a capacity of up to 30 seats, the Priority Train is designed for customers seeking a more exclusive travel experience with spacious seating. Amenities include touchscreen AVOD (Voice Detection Audio Visualizer) at each seat, portable tables, power sockets, reading lights, footrests, overhead luggage compartments, a minibar, a karaoke system, a widescreen TV, and exclusive restrooms.

"Priority provides a more relaxed travel experience. Children can rest, parents can relax, and families have a more comfortable travel experience,"

KAI also reminds customers traveling with children during school holidays to arrive at the station early, pay attention to departure schedules, keep children supervised, and follow the directions of staff both at the station and during the journey.

"School holidays are a good opportunity for families to introduce orderly transportation habits to children. Arriving on time, looking after your belongings, respecting other passengers, and always prioritizing safety are all important parts of the train experience," said KAI's VP of Corporate Communications.
