PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) served hundreds of thousands of passengers during this year's Isra Miraj long holiday. The state-owned railway operator recorded 674,644 passengers across Java and Sumatra from 15–18 January 2026.

The passenger occupancy rate reached 110.29 percent of the 611,699 seats provided by the company. This achievement was driven by the dynamic travel patterns of passengers boarding and alighting at various stations along the route.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba explained the company's operational readiness during the long holiday period. She said that this achievement was supported by strengthened safety management, particularly along the Northern Java railway corridor.

"Travel safety on the Northern Java corridor remains KAI's top priority. All operational decisions are made based on on-site technical inspections and continuous evaluations of infrastructure conditions. As a result, despite disruptions at several locations, KAI was still able to serve more than 600,000 passengers," Anne said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday, 19 January 2026.

Management implemented adaptive operational arrangements by adjusting operating patterns and canceling several train services. These strategic measures were taken to ensure that railway operations continued to meet safety standards for both passengers and railway personnel.
The company recorded the ten busiest train routes during the Isra Miraj long holiday. The Gambir–Yogyakarta route ranked first, serving 9,243 passengers.

The Lempuyangan–Pasar Senen route ranked second with 6,301 passengers, while the Pasar Senen–Lempuyangan route placed third with 5,895 passengers.

Acting Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary KAI, Wisnu Pramudya, explained that the operational adjustments reflected the company's commitment to maintaining travel safety amid unexpected natural conditions.

KAI expressed its appreciation for the trust and patience shown by all customers throughout the Isra Miraj long holiday. Restoration work on the Northern Java railway infrastructure continues in stages to ensure services can return to optimal operation.

"Service evaluations and customer feedback will continue to serve as the foundation for KAI in strengthening the reliability of railway services as a safe, dependable, and comfortable mode of public transportation," Wisnu said.
