A meaningful atmosphere was present at the peak celebration of the 81st Anniversary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) through The Continuum – Timeless Transformation event held at Ciputra Artpreneur Jakarta on Monday (28/9).
Featuring a special collaboration between Addie MS and Twilite Orchestra, Anggun, and Judika, the celebration took guests on a journey through the long history of Indonesia’s railway through a blend of arts and culture, music, and stories of KAI’s transformation over more than eight decades.
Attended by government officials, stakeholders, customers, business partners, communities, and various parties who have been part of KAI’s journey, the event served as a space to appreciate the company’s long journey in supporting the mobility of Indonesian society.
Carrying the theme The Continuum – Timeless Transformation, KAI presented a performance depicting the journey of Indonesia’s railway from one era to another. Railways have been present throughout various stages of the nation’s journey, connecting regions, supporting people’s activities, and becoming part of Indonesia’s development.
President Director of KAI Bobby Rasyidin said that KAI’s 81-year journey is closely connected to the journey of Indonesian society.
“For 81 years, KAI has been part of Indonesia’s journey. Railways have carried people to various destinations, supported economic activities, and become part of many stories in people’s journeys,” said Bobby.
The stage of The Continuum – Timeless Transformation opened with the atmosphere of Nusantara culture through traditional dances and regional music performances showcasing Indonesia’s cultural diversity.
The atmosphere then became even more grand through a collaboration between Addie MS and Twilite Orchestra, presenting an orchestral arrangement filled with harmony. Various songs with national and Indonesian journey themes, including “Indonesia Raya,” “Indonesia Pusaka,” and “Mars KAI,” were part of the performance, bringing a spirit of nationalism while reflecting KAI’s long journey.
Through the combination of orchestral music and Indonesia’s cultural richness, guests were invited to recall the journey of railways from one era to another, from the early history of railways and the struggles of railway workers to KAI’s transformation into a modern transportation company.
The celebration became even more special with performances by Anggun and Judika, who presented some of their best works. The presence of the two Indonesian singers created a warm and elegant atmosphere throughout KAI’s 81st anniversary celebration.
Bobby said that railway journeys have always carried stories that are closely connected to the lives of Indonesian people.
“Every railway journey carries a story. There are steps toward a destination, activities that keep life moving, and hopes that travel along with the railway. This spirit continues to encourage KAI to provide the best service for the community,” said Bobby.
Through The Continuum – Timeless Transformation, KAI expressed its appreciation to all KAI employees, customers, partners, and stakeholders who have been part of the company’s journey over the past 81 years.
KAI’s 81st Anniversary celebration became a momentum to look back on the long journey of Indonesia’s railway, which continues to move from the past toward the future, carrying history, innovation, and the spirit of Semakin Melayani.
