
Kereta Petani dan Pedagang Serves 43,000 Customers with IDR 3,000 Fare
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded 43,780 customers using Kereta Petani dan Pedagang from December 1, 2025, to September 14, 2026.
Serving communities along the Merak–Rangkasbitung route, Kereta Petani dan Pedagang has become a travel option for people in Banten, supporting their daily activities. The service is used for commuting to work, trading activities, and other mobility needs at an affordable fare.
Vice President of Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba said that Kereta Petani dan Pedagang is provided as a transportation option that meets the travel needs of the community.
“Kereta Petani dan Pedagang provides an affordable travel option for people in Banten, supporting their mobility for work, trading activities, and other daily needs,” said Anne.
Based on customer data from December 1, 2025, to September 14, 2026, Cikeusal Station recorded the highest customer boarding and alighting activity, with 25,265 customers. It was followed by Rangkasbitung Station with 19,644 customers, Serang Station with 12,035 customers, Merak Station with 8,065 customers, and Cilegon Station with 7,136 customers.
The high customer activity at Cikeusal Station reflects the community’s need for transportation connecting residential areas with various destinations. According to Statistics Indonesia’s (BPS) 2025 Cikeusal District in Figures, Cikeusal is located in Serang Regency and has economic activities centered around agriculture, trade, and the local economy.
These characteristics make transportation connectivity important in supporting community mobility. Kereta Petani dan Pedagang provides an alternative travel option for people in Cikeusal and surrounding areas.
Rangkasbitung Station also recorded a high level of customer activity. As an area with active community and economic activities in Lebak Regency, Rangkasbitung has a high level of travel movement.
Anne said the affordable fare is one of the factors supporting the use of the service. Kereta Petani dan Pedagang on the Merak–Rangkasbitung route is available at a fare of IDR 3,000 per trip.
“An affordable fare makes train travel more accessible to the community. KAI continues to evaluate the service to ensure it meets the mobility needs of people along the route,” said Anne.
KAI will continue to evaluate Kereta Petani dan Pedagang services to ensure they remain aligned with the travel needs of communities along the Merak–Rangkasbitung route.
