Imperial Trains Increasingly Popular, Customers Increase 162.04 Percent Between January and May 2026 This premium, 20-seat service recorded 4,287 customers and 232 trips between January and May 2026

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), through KAI Wisata, recorded increased public interest in the Imperial Train from January to May 2026. Based on travel volume and customer data, the Imperial Train served 4,287 customers in January–May 2026, a 162.04 percent increase compared to the 1,636 customers in the same period in 2025.

Operational-wise, the Imperial Train's travel volume also increased from 64 trips in January–May 2025 to 232 trips in January–May 2026, representing a 262.50 percent increase.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communications Anne Purba stated that this growth demonstrates that train travel with its premium, private, and limited-capacity concept is increasingly popular with customers.

From January to May 2026, the highest number of Imperial Train passengers occurred in May, with 1,773 passengers from 124 trips. Subsequently, March recorded 1,248 passengers, April 924 passengers, and January 342 passengers.

The Imperial Train is one of the tourist train products managed by KAI Wisata. This service is not tied to a single regular train set but can be combined or operated specifically to suit bookings, charters, or specific travel programs.

In terms of facilities, the Imperial Train has 20 seats with seats that recline up to 135 degrees, equipped with headrests, legrests, footrests, portable tables, power sockets, and reading lights.
