PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) ensures that all train operations continue to run safely and under control following the eruptive activity of Mount Anak Krakatau, which has drawn public attention.

KAI continues to monitor the latest conditions and coordinate with relevant authorities, including the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), the institution responsible for monitoring volcanic activity in Indonesia.

According to information from BMKG, the eruptive activity of Mount Anak Krakatau on September 4, 2026, at 10:03 PM WIB was recorded by a seismograph station with a maximum amplitude of 19 mm and a duration of approximately 29 seconds. As of September 5, 2026, at 10:30 AM WIB, BMKG reported that there had been no significant increase in sea level as a result of the activity.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said that KAI has a safety management system that serves as a guideline for managing all train operations. Any conditions that have the potential to affect customers’ journeys continue to be monitored and evaluated through coordination among work units and relevant authorities.

“KAI ensures that train services continue to operate with safety as the top priority. Monitoring of operational conditions, the readiness of facilities and infrastructure, as well as coordination among personnel in the field, continue to be carried out to ensure that customers’ journeys remain safe and comfortable,” said Anne.

To date, all train services continue to operate according to schedule while maintaining close attention to safety aspects. KAI regularly evaluates track conditions, the surrounding operational environment, and the latest information from relevant authorities.

Specifically for Airport Train services, operations continue to run in accordance with the latest conditions. KAI continues to coordinate with relevant parties to ensure that transportation services to airports can support the public’s travel needs, including in the event of adjustments to flight operations.

Anne added that KAI’s preparedness is supported by safety procedures that include operational monitoring, risk mitigation, coordination among work units, and the readiness of personnel to respond to various travel conditions.

“KAI urges the public to remain calm and refer to official information from BMKG, the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through PVMBG, as well as KAI’s official channels. We continue to ensure that train services operate safely, with the safety of customers and personnel as our top priority,” Anne concluded.
