KAI Serves 182,000 Customers Through Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan Services

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded 182,208 customers using Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan services from their introduction in 2026 through September 9, 2026.

This total consists of 181,900 customers using K3 Kerakyatan services and 308 customers using Kereta Petani dan Pedagang long-distance services on the Garut–Pasar Senen and Pasar Senen–Garut routes.

Vice President of Corporate Communication KAI Anne Purba said that Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan services are provided to offer travel options that meet the mobility needs of the community.

“Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan services have served 182,208 customers since their introduction in 2026. KAI continues to evaluate the services based on customer travel data to provide train services that meet the needs of the community,” said Anne.

K3 Kerakyatan services were first introduced through additional trains on the Lempuyangan–Pasar Senen and Pasar Senen–Lempuyangan routes during the 2026 Eid transportation period, from March 11 to April 5, 2026. During this period, the services recorded 24,398 customers.

This total consisted of 12,262 customers traveling from Lempuyangan to Pasar Senen and 12,136 customers traveling from Pasar Senen to Lempuyangan.

After the Eid transportation period, KAI continued operating K3 Kerakyatan services through KA Cikuray on the Garut–Pasar Senen and Pasar Senen–Garut routes from June 11, 2026. As of September 9, 2026, the service had served 157,502 customers.

This total consisted of 81,368 customers traveling from Garut to Pasar Senen and 76,134 customers traveling from Pasar Senen to Garut.

In addition to K3 Kerakyatan services, KAI also introduced Kereta Petani dan Pedagang long-distance services on the Garut–Pasar Senen and Pasar Senen–Garut routes on June 11, 2026. As of September 9, 2026, the service had served 308 customers.

This total consisted of 153 customers traveling from Garut to Pasar Senen and 155 customers traveling from Pasar Senen to Garut.

Anne explained that customer travel data is one of the factors KAI uses to evaluate and develop train services, including travel patterns and community mobility needs.

“KAI continues to monitor customer numbers and travel patterns as part of service evaluation. Every service development takes into account safety, comfort, and the needs of the community,” said Anne.

As of September 9, 2026, Kereta Ekonomi Kerakyatan services, consisting of K3 Kerakyatan and Kereta Petani dan Pedagang long-distance services, had served 182,208 customers.

KAI will continue to manage train services based on developments in community mobility to make train journeys increasingly convenient for customers.
